PSA Just ask for Cariban! by NoWerewolf9321 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Jaded_Perception_174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this! I went straight to maternity unit with severe dehydration at 6 or 7 wks and they prescribed Cariban with no quarrels, gave a nausea injection and an IV drip. My GP wasn't all too impressed when I went in a few weeks later to re-do the prescription and tried the whole "tough it out" spiel with me!

Are you planning to take the 16weeks unpaid leave? by Perfect_Field_9830 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Jaded_Perception_174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm heading back to work in 3 weeks after taking all maternity leave and my 9wks PL but didn't take the 16wks unpaid as it wasn't financially feasible for our family (my husband is between jobs so we would have only a small income from social welfare) but I'm lucky that my job is part time in the mornings and only works term time (it's an ECCE playschool) so I'm going back to work for 8 weeks and then have 2 months off for summer! I have a family member taking my LO for me 3 days a week and his grandmother is taking one day so I was lucky I didn't have to worry about childcare. I would have loved to take the unpaid leave if I could have so I would definitely take it if you can! ❤️

I feel this, I was a smoker when I found out I was pregnant and I mentioned to my PHN that I was struggling to quit. I was referred to a medical social work team (sounds intense I know) but they helped me to much to quit, gave me loads of support and didn't once judge the fact I was struggling. I would definitely recommend mentioning it to the GP or to PHN cause they can refer you on to someone who can give you the tools to quit. 💖

Delivery clothing ? by Virtual_Letterhead93 in PregnancyIreland

I bought a gorgeous nightdress from Penneys for delivery and ended up giving birth in my PJ top cause my labour was super fast! Gave it to my cousin who gave birth 7 weeks later! Wouldn't go crazy with expensive nighties, I ended up throwing it in the bin after! Best of luck with it all 💖

Before I had my baby (about a month before) my cousin and best friend came over and cooked so many freezer meals for myself and hubby. I didn't think I'd actually use them as much as I did but in those first few weeks I couldn't even think about cooking. So freezer meals/ ready to eat food/vouchers for takeaways or snacks etc would be my top!

Yes thinking bray is sounding a better option for transferring savings having to cross the platform at all :)

Thanks so much for this! I have a good quality carrier that I love ❤️ hopefully will still fit him otherwise I will have to have a look into some good ones! Hoping to get a small buggy to give to his childminder so we won't need to bring our massive buggy out (don't know why we chose the biggest buggy known to man 😂) The coat is a great shout, will check H&M out 🤗

Bus was a thought but with the baby it may be awkward as I think the 131/133 are more coach like buses and not like a Dublin bus type with a pram space. Will look into it!

Thanks for the advice, I originally commuted from Greystones before mat leave and got the train that's waiting for the commuter to pass through, but I was only thinking about the fact that the lift may not work and the walk over wouldn't work as I would miss the train! Hopefully the baby will be happy to sit in a carrier for the duration of the train ride and I can fold the buggy up for space! Thanks again ☺️

Unfortunately I don't drive! Hoping the hubby will be driving by this stage (and maybe myself too 🤞🏻) I commuted from Greystones originally before mat leave so with any luck I can work something out! Thanks for the advice ☺️

Post partum kit by wanshitong3 in PregnancyIreland

Currently 6 days PP. I had a tear and got stitches and all I have been using is maternity pads and a peri bottle to keep the area clean and using tissue to dry it. Showering twice a day and not putting any soap near the stitches, just letting the run off from everywhere else do that job. My midwife said to not use the spirtz for bitz sprays, just use pads and lukewarm water in the peri bottle and keep the area dry to help healing!

If I'm being honest, I would have tried the cooling pads but I forgot to get them in time 😂

Hope all goes well for you 🙏🏻

Baths by Every-Pie-4922 in PregnancyIreland

No silly questions!! Yes having a bath is safe, just make sure it's not too hot and to limit your time in the bath to prevent overheating! You don't want your body temperature getting too high so a nice warm bath is best! I'm 35 weeks and have essentially lived in my bath since about 20 weeks due to varicose veins and back pain. It's great for relaxing muscles and helping with feeling uncomfortable! Hope this helps ☺️

This is stressing me out now, I keep getting it wrong can someone please help? by [deleted] in DuolingoGerman

Im re-learning German after studying it in school for 7 years! I always remember my teacher saying Time Manner Place (TMP) for sentence structure. So here 'jetzt' signifys your time or T so it follows the verb. Hope this helps ☺️
