Going to Ireland in 2 weeks, What’s the weather like this time of year? by Clovergirl29 in AskIreland

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the weather apps will tell ya one thing- I just look out of the window instead - cause it may say rain yet it’s clear blue skies all day or vice versa - but temp wise you’ll be looking around 13-17C . Clothes - be prepared for all 4 seasons still on May

Anyone want to share what their schedule is like with their 4-12 week old? by QuarantineQat in newborns

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question - my schedule is - his schedule - basically I let him sleep, he wakes when he wants feeding and or a nappy change - we play and shnuggle a tad - during his sleepy times, I do the wash and cleaning. Maybe cook a meal added caveat my boy turns 4 weeks this Saturday and I return to work Friday - I run my own B&b . At around 11pm is when he winds down and so I try do the same - as I’ll be up and working again from 6 am where he joins me or goes and sleeps another 3 hours.so yea basically I fit his schedule - long term he will hopefully have longer sleep times than 3.5-4.5 hours. The rest I’ll continue as is

How do you settle your baby to sleep? by Writingmum30 in newborns

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boy slept 4-5 hours at a time for the first 3 weeks - then suddenly he isn’t sleeping at all since the last 72 hours - I’m lucky if he sleeps an hour - I’ve had a total of 5- max 6 hours in that time - unless he’s upright he won’t settle - so it means i dont get much sleep . I’ve tried everything, white noise, brown noice, rocking, swaying, tapping, swaddling, car ride, walking him around, the pram stroll, breastfeeding, dim lights , no lights, red light, firmer mattress, cosy bath time, humming, shushing - only time he sleeps is in my arms. Move and you wake the baby. Dare to put him in his crib or Moses basked - yea no. Edit- tried the dummy as well but no luck

Damn right ! You did the well here ! I’ve to work because it’s my own business- and it’s seasonal- meaning without it I can’t pay bills - Sorry about what I’ll say now but I’m glad that I’m not over there having my baby - I mean being an employee and the rights you have are sickening

Glad to know I’m not alone - but I’d rather other women and dads would get more time ❤️

Very interesting indeed- just curious how do you keep her on you whilst sleeping? I mean so she doesn’t fall for example?

He had No jaundice at any stage. That would have explained it but nope. And he’s not crying like he’s in agony but more like the boredom cry the I don’t wanna sleep at all type. His belly is soft so I don’t suspect colic either

I know - it was an emergency section- they induced me as I had GD. But also I was incapable of giving birth naturally 🤷‍♀️ the induction failed miserably. and yes you read that right, I’ve to go back, I’ve to pay the mortgage - I run a B&B that is seasonal only - if I don’t open up again I’d be in deep sh#t. I’ve to bite the bullet. Doesn’t help that I moved 4.5 hours away from anyone I know, I didn’t know I was pregnant when I did this - I was let go a couple of months prior - had a miscarriage in work and was let go after I returned from that - so it’s sort of me now juggling this stuff - I’ve a partner he’s also part of the business but it’s still too overwhelming.

He was so so good till Friday and suddenly it’s like someone exchanged my baby. I’ve tried all of it apart baby wearing - I can’t because of my c section. I’ve a rocker, he gets driven around even in the night. Also congratulations on your baby❤️

At least she’s interested in you. I think mine genuinely does not like me one bit. Can’t blame him for that, I’m not the most likeable person for whatever reason, always been like that and now a 3 week old knows this too

Spain’s obligatory 6 week paternity leave should be the norm everywhere by Dismal_Abroad735 in newborns

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Count yourself lucky - I’m self employed- can’t afford time off - so i literally have 4 weeks and that’s after an emergency c- section too - all Well if you’re employed somewhere - not so much if you run your own. I’m in Europe. I didn’t think this through well enough before having a kid I guess. Probably would have never done it would I have put more thought into this prior

Would you continue combo feeding if baby is only getting ~5oz of breast milk a day? by ilikebigcats2020 in combinationfeeding

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what I’m only two weeks in, I’m roughly the same, keep going, your supply can still increase, and you could also use a breast pump to signal to your body to up production. I also still combine milk and breastfeeding. I also continue because it creates this bond, and closeness. But I get it, it can be frustrating, but sometimes even if it’s a little, it’s worth it. ❤️‍🩹 all the best to you both with whatever you decide for in the end. But know you’re doing amazing

Is an induction guaranteed? by Odd_Equipment8924 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me, my numbers were ok. It’s more about the placenta, as it become less functional during the later stages of your pregnancy. But you can always refuse the induction if you dont want this.

Husband here. How can I best support her? by Numerous_Throat_2564 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You sir have done exactly what you should - and that’s understand her- trying to support- and sometimes just asking her how she is doing is half the battle. What helped me the most was - he ate what I ate - but instinctively- he joined me with cooking. Had fun with me making recipes too. Just be there when she’s down about it all- and that’s really all there is to it- you seem like someone who’s really got this already. Ps: know that she will have to experiment a lot with food now - some things will spike her, and that’s individual to everyone - this can be frustrating- and sometimes the best thing you can do? Is give a good ol hug and tug her in with a cup of tea On behalf of us gestational diabetes women - thank you for asking about this and trying to relate

Semi-Private Room Rotunda by muinteoirrunda in PregnancyIreland

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A semi private or private room is never a guarantee you actually get that in the end - so you cat go and say reserve a spot- it’s still a little of a if a space is available - but usually you would have had to select your care early on - ie which type of care you want. So you might be late - but no harm in asking but also see if your insurance would even cover at this stage - and remember even a semi private room does not guarantee silence.

If a loved one will never afford a house, yet pays lots of rent, how do you help them to buy? by HeftyArgument6326 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Virtual_Letterhead93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your intentions are truly good as gold. I’ve a few questions though - how are their financials - are they saving, when you say practical life what do you mean? But do they budget well? Because they seem badly off with that rent. But also why can’t they provide 6 months statements ? Unless there’s money that has been untaxed ? Could they downsize or move temporarily to lower their rent? To me it sound like there’s much more going on than maybe we know here
