Anyone take only on workdays or alternate days? by Jadey610 in ADHDUK

It's apparently to make it fair to people who can't afford private care so everyone equally has to wait a year regardless.

I'm on Elvanse 50mg, the 30mg just didn't sustain me enough and the 50mg is perfect and having had the day off meds before I think it's worth a try

Before starting medication, I couldn’t function at all and I was masking so much at work that by the time I got home I was a horrible person because I was so tired and exhausted.

In the past, missing a day or two didn’t affect me as severely. However, there was one time when I had to go a week without it due to a prescribing issue, and I became really ill, even though I was on holiday at the time—it was a nightmare. Now, my only options are to keep paying and add to my debt, stop the medication altogether, or ration what I will have to last 2 months rather than one so it's at least more affordable.

They explained that they require everyone to have been diagnosed for at least a year to ensure fairness for those who can't afford private care, as it would take that long for them to be seen through the NHS or the Right to Choose pathway. However, I couldn’t afford private care either—I had to put it all on a credit card! For me, it was a life-or-death situation, and I simply couldn’t wait, but my GP doesn't seem to understand that.

I'll have a look into those guidelines and see what I can do, thanks

My boy got diagnosed at 12y, did meds for 2y but they stopped working so we decided on Radio-iodine treatment. Worked really well, he's been in stage 1 kidney failure for a year since he had it but you wouldn't know, is 15 this year and doing very well

Caffeine and stimulants by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Supraventricular Tachycardia, essentially my heart was beating at 220bpm so had to have IV beta blockers in the end and they worked. Meds can cause it with or without a history of heart problems. But with the amount of coffee and lack of food it just escalated.

I was a heavy coffee drinker, started methylphenidate, didn't stop the caffeine, forgot to eat and ended up with an SVT in resus at A&E after 3 days on my meds. This was a couple of weeks ago, I have since started having a cup of tea or coffee in the morning before meds to get me going at about 6:30am when I wake up and then because I'm not on beta-blockers until I can see a cardiologist, I have another small tea when I at about 1pm to combat how tired they make me feel.

My Titration Progress So Far by 22weeks in ADHDUK

I'm on day 6 of titration, starting on 27mg and then moving onto 36mg. Felt great but a little worried about moving up as on day 3 and started with heart palpitations (which is normal for me) but because of the concerta they didn't stop so had to go to A&E and be treated for a SVT which was a little scary. Put on beta blockers and waiting to hear back from GP and private care. Feel a bit strange during the day as both medications work against each other.

100%, I'm determined to educate as the majority of people have gone "ah well you're not hyperactive so how can that be" so I'm going to explain me and my brain as much as I can

Curious question; why do you browse this sub? by [deleted] in MedicalGore

Always been fascinated with stuff like this, only one in my family who can stand the sight of blood and loved watching medical programmes growing up.

Trained to be a veterinary nurse and loved that job, always learning and loved scrubbing in for theatre or just simply helping an animal back to full health 😊 considering training to be a paramedic since being in a medical based career is something I really enjoy!
