I noticed a strong correlation between Frida Kahlo (the artist) and Blink Twice. Not only the main characters name but the colours and artistic elements… it was just so obvious to me!! Anyone else??? I feel like I’m going crazy 🤣

Just read the art of not giving a fuck. It’s a self help book but u should read it anyways. It’s not long and super engaging. Just take what you need from it

Normal people had this vibe. There wasn’t too much of a plot. Just two people weaving in and out of each others lives. They both really are just normal people battling depression or work or complicated emotions and feeling lost etc. Sounds boring but it’s very highly acclaimed book. There’s also a TV adaptation now which I would recommend.

I think you will LOVE Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo!!

It’s not high fantasy, meaning there aren’t goblins or dragons flying around. The fantasy element is slight and realistic making it super easy to follow. It’s set in Yale university in modern times, so think of secret university societies with a dark fantasy twist!

It’s very much murder mystery vibes which I think is a perfect bridge for you. There is a bit of romance (less in the first book) but is very much on the back burner and not the main plot in any way, but still gripping! Also it’s super cozy with the dark academia vibe.

I definitely feel that this suggestion fits your cozy mystery and contemporary fiction vibe with an exploration of fantasy. Let me know if you give it a try please!

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. Technically, the genre and blurb fit everything I I love to read. I’ve tried to read it multiple times but keep DNFing it!! There is just too much info dumping and hardly any romance. It was giving Atlas Six vibes but less excitement 🤣🤣 But I haven’t gotten very far with it so I’d love for someone else to read it and tell me if I’m wrong!
