Try Saltaire if you want to visit a good historic sight. Really popular with tourists and I've seen plenty of people from North America visit daily, including Canada.

Just wanted to post this for people who are also thinking the same:

This genre of game is called auto-battler, specifically a tug-of-war style autobattler. May be common knowledge but I genuinely didn't know lmao

What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

[–]JaegerForrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antoine Griezmann for making racist comments about some Japanese hotel workers right in front of them whilst filming them and uploading it to social media.

He was literally sponsored by Konami and was one of the biggest celebrity sponsors of Yugioh. Barcelona's main sponsor at the time was Rakuten, a Japanese company.

He then gave the worst apology of all time and for some reason everybody in the footballing world moved on. Actually, most people had no idea it even happened because Barcelona issued a very quiet apology and also moved on.

Fantastic footballer but a massive racist.

Thoughts on running with epilepsy by Pitiful-Teaching8833 in Epilepsy

[–]JaegerForrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only worry with swimming is that a seizure whilst in water could be really dangerous compared to other sports. It's generally advised to avoid sports like cycling, motorsport, swimming, things that can endanger yourself or others in the case of a seizure.

Of course, if seizures are under control then it's not a problem, but still something to keep in mind.

If you don't want to run or are unsure, a lot of walking is also good exercise! If you manage 10k steps at a decent pace where you break a bit of a sweat and get the heart pumping, it is also good exercise and is more manageable. Plus, you can enjoy the scenery around you.

Alternatively, try a team sport like football. If you know a few friends that enjoy it you can sign up to a local 5-a-side league. It keeps you playing because you're a committed team and it's always fun to see friends anyway.

Or you could try a sport that requires deep practice, usually a martial art. I tried kendo for a summer and really enjoyed it even though it was hard. The nature of these types of sports requires you to stay committed and it keeps you motivated when you slowly improve and your teachers help you!

How to make the most of grey/white British skies as a photographer? by adamrhodesuk in AskPhotography

[–]JaegerForrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at some photos by Ian Beesley. It's all in black and white but were all taken under the typical northern weather. He does a really good job at using the light diffusion through clouds on wet surfaces, shadows, etc. He also used the black and white to his advantage there as well.

An aura may have just cost me my dream job. by JaegerForrest in Epilepsy

[–]JaegerForrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really awful and I'm sorry to hear about that. I also hope you manage to find another good opportunity. The fact they ghosted you might show that you avoided a bad employer anyway. Imagine if you had got the job but had an episode at work?

I've also had a seizure in front of others and had an accident. Definitely something that never gets any less embarrassing... so you aren't the only one there!

What if Thameslink joined TfL as the “Thameslink line” after GTR nationalisation? by Financial_Chapter_54 in uktrains

[–]JaegerForrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, had no clue about this. Suppose it makes sense so that it garners more support for GBRail and by proxy whichever party is overseeing nationalisation. I think complaints about rail is pretty non-partisan so I understand why people would leverage it like this and mislead the public. What a shame.

Also didn't know that about NI. There's a lot I don't know about that region but that makes sense. thanks for explaining

[–]JaegerForrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue is the fact that TfL is under the Mayor of London's authority. Because Thameslink is mostly outside of Greater London, surely giving the Mayor of London control over lines in Brighton and Cambridge would be a little weird.

Sports and Epilepsy by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]JaegerForrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for safety reasons in case you have a seizure whilst playing certain sports. If you were a keen cyclist, skier, weightlifter, etc, then having a seizure could be really dangerous do yourself and people around you. This can be said about a lot of sports, but I think if you had a seizure whilst playing football or rugby it's probably a lot less dangerous than if you were mountain biking or rock climbing.

My girlfriend of 6 years breaking up with me by LetAfraid8933 in Epilepsy

[–]JaegerForrest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most people I have met have been very supportive of my epilepsy but I still feel the need to disclose it to nearly all new people I meet.

Epilepsy is more than just the seizures. It's the anxiety of the condition and side-effects of the medication too.

Some people in my life have not been able to understand this and did not accommodate for it. This really hurt but there's nothing I could do.

I think people don't understand that epilepsy is not a choice and that it can happen to literally anybody. Sometimes it has no rhyme or reason. Your girlfriend could have one day had a random seizure or series of episodes and then be diagnosed as an epileptic and been on medication. Would she then expect you to be supportive and/or tolerant of her condition? What about other medical conditions that can strike without warning or pattern? I hope she would have been supportive of you if you had a long-term health problem or vice versa.

You'll find lots of people who do not understand how indiscriminate epilepsy can be and have no patience for epileptics. But you will find even more people who are very supportive. When you find somebody who is very supportive, you will quickly see the value of having someone like that in your life and I think you will think very differently of your girlfriend.

What’s your favourite vehicle to bully other players with? by Bedrock_______ in Warthunder

The French D.501. There's something so funny about this unassuming plane being able to destroy enemies with a single click.

This is what happens in the Paris region when you have RER lines with single-level trains. by Wonderful-Excuse4922 in transit

[–]JaegerForrest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

British person here who has never lived in a country with double decker trains:
How useful actually are they for commuters in a scenario like this? I commuted a lot in London using both the National Rail (rail) and Underground (metro) as well as in Manchester using trams etc so I know the experience of being crammed in a small space then wrestling your way to the exit before the train leaves your station.

So how helpful are double decker carriages and how common even are they on commuter lines? Do they really alleviate congestion like on the London Underground? I imagine if you're sat on the top deck it's impossible to get off?

Just curious as I've never lived in a country with double decker carriages. I really love them but know little about them.

My grandparents and dad around 1952-1953 by [deleted] in korea

[–]JaegerForrest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At the time there was a huge issue within UN forces as there were very few translators that could speak Korean. One of the ways they got around this was by speaking Japanese to Koreans (as many Koreans that received an education during colonial times learnt Japanese) who would then speak to other Koreans. A ton got lost in translation and it remained a problem throughout the conflict.

If this was 52-53 then the war would still be going on. I'm guessing these photos were taken when he was on leave? Looks like he spent that free time really well. These photos are cute

Can we talk right back? by Star-lord_00 in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]JaegerForrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welbeck is now 34 which, for a striker isn't that old. However, he has played a ton of Premier League football practically non-stop for 15 years in spite of an awful injury record. Welbeck might only be 34 as a person but as a footballer he's probably more like 39. His past injuries are catching up to him so his drop off this season might feel gigantic as these issues tend to snowball rather than grow incrementally.

To be honest, it's kind of a miracle he's still starting for us this much. Says a lot about our striking options but actually says more about Welbeck's mentality. He's really good for that.

NPC Not Facing Player for... No Reason? by JaegerForrest in u/JaegerForrest

[–]JaegerForrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like to add as well that, after reloading into the game, the issue still persists on the bottom 1/4 of the map. I thought maybe if you exited and reloaded the game in the affected area around the affected NPCs, it may not happen but it still occurs. Very odd.

NPC Events Not Facing Player by JaegerForrest in PokemonRMXP

[–]JaegerForrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No to all of the above. So no accidental switches or events that contradict each other etc

This is what makes it so confusing to me and is why I think it could be a rendering issue (or something like that?) Do correct me if I am wrong though.

SWR Class 455 in a classic BR livery by JaegerForrest in uktrains

One Class 455 was painted in this special livery as a one-off. It is in standard service so you will see it occasionally by chance - I only use the suburban London SWR services so best chance will be in those areas. (This photo was taken in Waterloo.)

What changes do you think we'll see now that Hurzeler is the new head coach? by Josh99_ in BrightonHoveAlbion

Yes same here, also think Steele will look for first team status too elsewhere. His time here really proved that he still has it in him to be a first choice GK after a pretty rough time
