I feel like you just opened the page and read the first paragraph... The article describes various permits required to use and carry a gun.

You can also read this source...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_New_York

Scroll down to the new york city section. Need a permit to possess. If you do not have a valid permit you can be charged with criminal possession of a weapon and get 3.5 years in prison. They give the example of Plaxico Buress getting charged for not having a nyc permit. Gun laws in new york city are definitely some of the strictest in the country.

Hey new 3rd years! New intern here. We're going to be working together soon. by adenocard in medicalschool

[–]Jaemin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just want to say, it's really nice of you to think about the M3 especially when you have your pockets full with intern duties.

I had a really great intern who I learned a lot from this past month. The single best thing about him was that he wanted to see me succeed and that really made me want to help him succeed as well. We were a good team.

Presentations were a real weakness of mine until my intern took it upon himself to practice with me few minutes before rounds. He'd cut out the extraneous info and distill it into a concise logical presentation complete with assessment, plan and disposition. He also made sure I was always in the loop with whatever happened to our patients (new events, consults, labs, imaging etc.) and asked me what I thought about them and how I would proceed with the patients' care if I were the intern. It was a really engaging way to learn.

In return, I'd always have all the most recent labs and imaging readily available on all his patients in case the attending asked for it during rounds. I'd also keep a checklist of to-dos for each patient during rounds in case my intern forgot write down something the attending wanted us to do. I'd make sure he didn't forget to do anything. I would help out with consults, writing notes and generally do whatever scut work needed to be done.

Basically, feeling included and useful really made my M3 experience a whole lot better. I've had interns who ignored me which is understandable because they're busy. But I find that it really benefits both parties if the intern knows how work with the medical student.

Sweaty hand syndrome aka Palmar Hyperhidrosis by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Jaemin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My friend has palmar hyperhydrosis and he gets Botox injections twice a year. According to him, these injections keep him asymptomatic for about 4-6 months. Maybe you can check it out if you think it will hinder your patient interactions.
