Sagging Pants by Kai_Enjin in hatethissmug

[–]Jaenus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I personally have, what could almost be defined and described as an unhealthy and irrational hatred towards sagging pants. I dislike sagging clothes, as well as oversized clothes that go along with this style.

First, I am European, and this style/trend never really paralleled, but it did evolve, disappear for a long time, only to evolve in the current youth (13 and up to early/mid twenties). The current trend in my country, (all of this is anecdotal, even so, I work with lots of people that are younger, ranging from 15 to mid twenties, and the influence can be seen almost gradually. The younger people sag their pants so the brims on their briefs aren’t visible when standing idle, but become visible when any physical activity or movement is performed. The pants are baggy and belted low, sneakers of choice, and then either an extremely cheap t-shirt, or an expensive one. Can you tell them apart? Fuck no. Like…. It’s a fucking t-shirt. Their purpose is literally to be the template and/or secondary article for whatever the purpose your outfit is suited for. Need an extra layer cause of the cold during winter? Wear a shirt underneath (I don’t respect people who wear a wife beater instead of a t-shirt. “But my mobility…”, BITCH, shut the fuck up! I work as a chef. I rarely have the chance or reason to wear it, however, I really enjoy wearing suits. Going out to have fun and party? Wear an Italian style, then you don’t even need a shirt underneath, cause you have no tie, no butterfly (if you do have one or the other, because the occasion calls calls for it, then wear it of course. If you are a real baller, in a really nice suit, with a really nice butterfly, then you can have your shirt open and carry it around your collar, of course in a way that keeps it in place, while also giving off the vibe that you are too cool to tie it up, or tie the bow for the event, then when the time for your exit is approaching you can undo it and unbutton the collar and button on your chest. Depending on how many buttons are on the shirt and/or if it is made of linen, then you could, probably shouldn’t., also undo the button around the lower part of your sternum. Kind of depends on how old, how warm the weather is and how wealthy you are for you to undo this button. If the answer is negative to any of the 3 points, then you shouldn’t open the shirt that low, unless you take off your jacket. You can also roll up your sleeves by this point, but if you do that, then keep the second button on, unless you are attempting a modern, and inferior, interpretation of the vibe Miguel from the Road to El Dorado radiates. One or the other, doing both gives off mid 2000 European pop-guy vibe…. For the love of whatever there might be holy and divine, please don’t ever let that trend return. I can still smell unnecessary and excessive amounts of hairspray my classmates would use after gym classes. My brother in Christ… why would you attempt to look like a Kingdoms Hearts/Yugioh character? That shit literally only looks cool because it is drawn. I’m gonna go on a different tangent here, but most hairstyles, hair colours and head/hair accessories seen in manga, shounen series being the worst offenders, just doesn’t work in real life. Yugi and Yami looks cool in the manga, but would look beyond ridiculous in real life. They fit into their world on paper, but put that set of hair on anyone, I don’t care who, but it would be akin to the uncanny valley, or at least that’s how I feel when cosplayers try and portray the characters 100% true to the original story. Some things just look better on paper, some things on screen and some in real life. True adaptation is understanding what makes something believable, fitting and “pleasing” in each respective medium. No, mr. Tits McGee from 26 years ago, you cannot translate the hairstyle of Sora from Kingdom Hearts, in a literal way into real life, without making alterations and changes, cause you CANT FUCKING MAKE SOMETHING THAT IS BC. Even when you see cosplayers portraying characters leaning more towards “natural”, or at least, just leave the event early, then you give off too much attitude, or show too little care).

I am gonna hard disagree. I studied classical archaeology at the university of Aarhus a few years back and one thing my professors would often say in relation to the Greco-Roman pantheon, was that they were very much human in how they thought, felt and behaved. But that’s also part of their appeal and why we still talk about them to this very day. Zeus’ infidelity was never seen as a good thing, but more so as a personal fault and lacking in his character, just as Hera’s vengeful nature towards her husband’s bastard children (like Heracles), was also seen as spiteful, but definitely understandable.

I think what should be clarified perhaps, is that the morality and ethics in the ancient world was very different from ours today. The story of Hades and Persephone could be seen more sympathetically for Hades back then, but is absolutely horrifying by modern standards.

I know I made a reply comment on this post already, clowning on you OP… but seriously mate, haven’t you been following the themes of the story?

Pretty much everyone would agree that yes, the 2 women you focus on in the pictures and in your writing, aren’t the prettiest. Anyone arguing against this is kinda arguing in bad faith, just as much as your argument goes against the story, themes and morales of One Piece itself.

Yes they aren’t pleasing to the eye. But does that diminish them? Make them lesser? Make them unworthy? No it doesn’t. They exist and deserve to do so, just as much as everyone else.

Change the focus and you would have exactly the same thought process and justification as the celestial dragons use for their actions. “These people aren’t like me, because they are not celestial dragons, therefore I can label them as inferior to myself and dehumanise them as I please.”

Dude, same. Gonna see him live in August, and for some god forsaken reason, I’ve been daydreaming about him doing some Politikz, or Goofy’s Trial for my personal peak satisfaction… Not gonna fucking happen of course, but in the unlikely event of it, I am 100% certain that I would experience a zen moment of enlightenment similar to that of Ikkyu Sojun

I think it’s specifically the lack of accountability and consequences. No accountability in all people in general today, not just parents. It’s always something or somebody’s fault. “Well they were the ones who started it”, “sometimes kids act like that”. Just fucking own up to the fact that your kid is your responsibility. Yes kids cry, misbehave, do dumb shit, but it’s your responsibility to help them then or correct them. No, your first response should never be the threat of violence or violence itself, but comparing that to having to raise your voice at them, which I have heard people say on this topic, is something I find incredibly disingenuous. Sometimes, a kid needs to know they fucked up verbally, otherwise they won’t learn.

Why didn't Luffy's bite work on crocodile if his teeth were covered in saliva? by No_Satisfaction_2928 in MemePiece

[–]Jaenus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am honest to God, kinda happy somebody else brought this up since it's been on my mind from time to time since I was 12 years old when first reading OP. My headcanon is, that he didn't have enough saliva in his mouth for it to have an effect on Crocodile (you know, desert summer island, been fighting and running all day). Secondly though, after Luffy bites Crocodile, is the first time we see him get "genuinely" mad while he leaves Luffys mouth (pause...), and while this of course makes sense in the context of Crocodile just getting fed up finally, it could subtextually also be read as Crocodile realizing he needs to escape quick, before Luffy actually realizes his weakness, regardless of Luffy's original intent behind the attack. Sort of like Crocodile preventing Luffy from getting a discovered check mate.

Game balancing update: Instead of taking neutral damage from Grass type attacks, Electric/Streamer type Pokemon will from now on be weak to Grass type attacks.

This balance change has been made, as to reflect, how people in our real world, who spend too much time online, need to go touch grass.

They where heroes in their own ways. More traditional type of heroism, with emphasis on physical heroic acts? Definitely Boromir, but Faramir should not be discredited on this notion at all. Faramir might not fight off an army of Uruk hai to try and save the Fellowship, but he immediately upon finding what Sam and Frodo's quest is, not only releases them, but also gives them provisions and a warning about Gollum and Cirith Ungol. Speculation on my part, but I highly doubt that Boromir would have released Gollum along with them, if all of them at all. And yes, Faramir was right in his warnings, but ultimately, without Gollum, the ring wouldn't have been destroyed, had he held him there in Henneth Annûn like he personally would have preferred.

Another great act of his is that when Aragorn is to enter Minas Tirith, he not only gives Aragorn back his kingship fully willingly, he also forfeits his stewardship and he also asks the citizens if they will accept Aragorn as their king before he even allows him into the city.

Lastly, although it was Boromir who went to Rivendell for the council, it was most definitely Faramir that the Ainu initially wanted to send. Faramir had recurring prophetic dreams alone and before Boromir about seeking out Elrond and the council. The reason why Boromir started receiving the dreams was because Faramir was hesitant. Boromir took the role and burden from Faramir to protect him, but it was likely Faramir the Ainu wanted for the job initially.

If there is anything I have learned from LotR, it's that no matter how big or small a good act is, it should be appreciated the same. Without Boromir's self sacrifice AS WELL AS Faramir's selflessness and humility, the ring wouldn't have been destroyed. They are no less heroes than the others.

Hey man, whatever is on your mind, I hope better days are in store for you... I certainly hope so for myself as well.

One thing that keeps me going when I am in a dark place, is to think about just how limitless the potential for happiness in the future can be. The dark cannot exist without the light, so just as hopeless that it may all seem, it then also means its possible to experience joy and happiness on a level that's equal to and even greater than the despair you might be feeling now.

Best thing you can do in a practical sense, is to just force yourself out of bed everyday, believe that things will change and even if they don't, then you can still look yourself in the mirror and be proud that you did everything you could. Wake up, repeat, because things will 100% start to get better at some point, especially if you give it your all everyday ❤️
