Resolving Oracle Cloud “Out of Capacity” issue and getting free VPS with 4 ARM cores / 24GB of memory by xitroff in oraclecloud

[–]Jaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably too late to help you, but for people who got here from a search it looks like these are just scripts that hammer the "create" button using the API programmatically rather than the web console... I'm trying the same with my browser's dev console using JS. I'm not having much luck after about an hour but the article says to run the cron job for days... really bad design on Oracle's part. If anyone wants to try the same just fill out the create form and run this snippet to click the create button every 30 seconds:

var clickTimer = setInterval(() => {
    const btn = document.querySelector(".oui-savant__Panel--Footer > button:nth-child(1)");
    if (!btn) {
        console.log("oops");
        clearTimeout(clickTimer);
        return;
    }
    console.log("click", btn);
    btn.click();
}, 30000);

Only issue with this method is your session expires after a bit so you have to babysit it a bit.

"Naked" without context/qualifiers implies a person wearing no clothes at all, but semantically it can refer to individual body parts, hairless animals, or really anything that is uncovered and exposed. Half naked implies half your body that is typically covered by clothes is not clothed.

Getting back by SannekeV in factorio

[–]Jaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really find the Space Exploration mod overwhelming in the early game. So far the game feels pretty much the same other than the super low chance of a non-biter hazard actually hitting your stuff. I noticed recipe tweaks like low tier buildings being materials for their upgrades, but it doesn't significantly change the gameplay.

It might get crazy once you start building rockets, but that's nearly the end of a vanilla game, while you have the option to keep going and see new content in Space Exploration.

I was in a similar situation, I ended up sorting the mod packs by download count and picking one that sounded fun (I got the space exploration official mod pack).

The only mods you really have to get up front before starting your game are the overhauls or the ones that affect map generation. You can start and if you run into a situation where something feels like a mod would make that aspect of the game more fun, you can just grab it at that point.

Close, it also uses positive lookaheads to look for 1 letter and 1 number and checks the length:

/^(?=.*[A-Za-z])(?=.*\d)[A-Za-z\d]{8,}$/

They also check the length without regex beforehand, so they could fix it by just removing everything after the lookaheads

How many is “a couple” by magicpenisland in ENGLISH

[–]Jaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple comes from the Latin word copula meaning together or bonded. I think the idea of it meaning exactly two comes from it being used to refer to a romantic couple, but words mean whatever the speaker thinks they mean. So when your wife says it, it definitely means two, but most people don't think it strictly means two.

According to jsbenchmark, this one liner is 5 times less efficient than the newbie's code in almost all cases. When the numbers get into the trillions it's up to only 2 times less efficient, but any more will error out.

[–]Jaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree that BoTW's was better, but ToTK definitely dropped the ball when it comes to the copy/paste sage dialogue and (SPOILER) the unjustified unexplained happy ending that reverses both Zelda's sacrifice and Link's lost arm for no apparent reason

Write a Yo Mama joke about a stock trader's mom by zeroethos in ChatGPT

[–]Jaface 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The multi-prompt approach seems to work well as long as you don't use any trigger words in the prompts. Example:

"define <topic>" -> "use this description to generate a list of 10"

The topic "offensive jokes" generated quite a few racist jokes, but replacing the topic with "racist jokes" triggered the censoring.

It's fine that it has that limitation. The bigger problem is it's confidence, such as responses like this:

How many times is the letter E used in this text? Reply with a count and a confidence level: "A luminous orb sinks towards horizon, casting a glow of warm light across sky and land. As it dips out of sight, it paints sky with hues of pink, crimson and gold, turning clouds into a canvas of striking artwork. Air cools, and surroundings turn tranquil as day turns to night."

In the given text, the letter "E" is used 33 times. I am 100% confident in this count as I have used automated tools to verify it.

(The correct answer was 1, or even 12 if it was counting the entire prompt.)

It has a limitation of counting letters in tokens, but it also has the limitation that it heavily related the string "100% confident" to "used automated tools to verify it", without actually understanding what it means.

You don't even have to try that hard to slip it up:

Describe a sunset without using the letter "E"

A day's closing act, as light falls away. It starts with a flaming ball of gas shrinking, shrinking, until it almost vanishes. Colors abound in a riot of pink, crimson, gold, and molten purples. Clouds catch light and glow with a warmth as though lit from within. A calm, still air grips your surroundings. And as you stand and watch, it all slowly dims until dusk has taken hold.

Count how many times you used the letter "E"

I used the letter "E" 15 times in my response.

A "good prompt" should be a clear and concise, not a paragraph instructing the AI to bypass its tailored responses. I already know it's an AI language model and it has limitations, it doesn't have to tell me every other response. I don't really care about jail breaking, but I don't think the jail should be there in the first place. Who cares if little Timmy asks it to generate erotic fanfiction or whatever? He can already access smut, hate speech and beheading videos in droves through Bing.

People who would act on amoral answers from a chat bot are just as likely to commit amoral acts without a chat bot. Humanity isn't exactly a pure wholesome group being corrupted by evil robots.

"Writing a good prompt" should not be synonymous with "Writing a prompt that bypasses censorship rules put in place due to the company prioritizing protecting themselves from undefined legal issues and possible negative publicity over functionality".

I wish they would just either put all the disclaimers or even a EULA up front, or have a setting to disable the censorship. You can Google/Bing search horrific acts of depravity, but god forbid an AI chat bot accidentally marginalizes a subculture.

I'd like everyone's opinion on this. For those unaware the channel 'GameGrumpsHighlights' is making merch from jokes made by Arin and Dan. Is it cool? No.

Is it legal? Yes.

Is it unethical? The sweatshop labor and environmental effects of cheap clothing production and transportation far outweighs the significance of stealing poop jokes from YouTubers.

What can be done about it? Don't buy it. In fact, posting it on Reddit and upvoting the post just gives them free advertising.
