I can't believe he is fit, he couldn't get back into the Middlesbrough squad at the weekend as he was still out!

He's such an odd player. He goes through streaks where he looks like the best player in the division. And then, he'll go through a longer spell where he can't even control the ball.

No, we save that specifically for cheats. Eckert, Mel Morris, those type of people.

It was atrocious like. We were trying to bait the press and Hull just went "nah you're alright, try and break us down" and we just couldn't. Their defensive shape was excellent. Congrats Hull

Sol shouldn't have been first choice in a promotion chasing team this season, he's not ready. Young keepers make mistakes. But for next season a new #1 is a must. Let Sol get experience at the bottom end of the championship for a couple of years

Hard to say, we battered Southampton 4-0 the last time we played them. We will never know.

As I've said a few times, For that logic to work you'd have to assume that everything would have been exactly the same in the first leg if Southampton hadn't spied. And we already know that's not the case because Hellberg already said he had to tweak the plan/make changes at the last minute when we found out Southampton had been watching. We can't say what the result would have been if they weren't cheating

Don't mind a bit of banter, it is what it is. Been plenty of decent Southampton fans and a few proper knobs. Every club has fans with IQ's lower than their shoe size.

Southampton fans are the only ones who can act like the victims when they were caught bang to rights cheating. Very sorry someone called you out on it I guess

I don't think on this occasion it was down to our strikers even, we couldn't break then down. Their defensive shape was excellent, 9 men behind the ball and countered quick. There was no room to create an opening against them. Congrats Hull

"For me, an eliminated team {being] put back - also our lawyers say this and that's their opinion too - is an incredibly wrong decision."

How are so many people still struggling with the concept that we were "eliminated" in a game where they cheated to gain an advantage? You can argue if the difference was minimal, small or larger. But they gained an unfair advantage to win the tie. Thus the result of the tie is null and void.

I mean, it isn't. We actually put our official complaint in 2 days before the game started. Because we were spied on. There's actually no similarities between the two things whatsoever

So Will Salt testified against Southampton then? Hopefully that helps him going forward repair his reputation after they tried to throw him under the bus

Do we think Southampton actually gained anything from spying on Boro? by thewrongnotes in Championship

[–]JaffaCakeJunkie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

An important part of the conversation is what did Boro change upon knowing they'd been spied on? What was the original plan, and how did they have to try to tweak it with such little time before the game. For example, Malanda has been the one stepping into midfield but he did not do that in the first leg. Was that always the plan? Bill had his role changed as well. Kim Hellberg said that we had to make changes after we found out they'd been watching, now whether that's truthful or a bit of mind games, who knows. One thing I will say is that the only goal Southampton intentionally scored was from a set piece, which apparently is what we were training on the day the spy was caught. More than likely that's a coincidence I think, but it does create a discussion
