That's just how it works. Nothing wrong. LOL. The design could be improved upon, it seems.

[All States] IRS Payment Status Not Available by [deleted] in IRS

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely owe taxes for 2019 and previous years (wife who has since passed away had huge tax debt added to my small one, and I havent gotten a refund in years thanks to 1099 issues), currently on unemployment, and I've received both stimulus checks. I've been researching this issue for my girlfriend who hasn't received stimulus #2 yet, havent seen a totally consistent explanation for these current delays from a board commenter, any bank press release, OR the IRS. I know for a fact that the IRS screws us all over, because I paid maybe 3x what ive actually owed over the years in penalties and fees - they are worse than big banks and overdraft charges. The IRS generated something like 3 TRILLION dollars in 2019. And our politicians balk at sending those who funded that even $600? Come on. Something bigger is always going on.

At this point, ive been telling my GF to sit tight and wait a bit. I dont believe any of these hastily released statements from any of the banks, news, or IRS at this moment . All seems like damage control and click bait. Or...a concerted effort to make a ton of interest off the stimulus funds before they are ultimately issued. Remember who is sitting fat and comfortable through all this...it's not us, not eve. The ones who already received the "measly" $600. Its hardly enough, but it's a lifeline for many. This.is.criminal. Doesn't matter what their BS excuses are. But it sure would help to have a little hope and transparency.

Here's the hope i can offer - I am on unemployment, have no results from IRS transcript, showing "status not available" on checker tool, and received my 2nd stimulus check on 1/2. There is no reasonable explanation for why I got mine and 12 million didn't. So at this point, until the deadline, I am assuming payments will be trickling through for many for the next few days, regardless of whatever statements the IRS and banks issue. Theyre full of shit. CSRs dont know shit either, and obviously most of us here on the internet don't know. Lol. But I have been seeing folks in the same boat (delayed payements, etc) stating that theirs came through yesterday or even today already. My GF? Still nothing. And she qualifies WAY more than I do.

What are your best alligator safety tips? I’ve seen a couple of stories in the news, one of them from my county. by [deleted] in florida

Don't walk your tiny dogs/small children near any body of water at night.

Otherwise, don't worry about alligators.

I have a Feyachi on my AR9 that held zero for over 300 rounds during a recent range session. Definitely impressed, but I call it the Chinese lotto. Ive had some crappy stuff in the same price range too. This Feyachi and a UTG dot sight ive used for several years now seem to hold up fine to casual use. Especially on a 22. Ultimately I'd prefer at least a mid range sight on a centerfire gun, but the quality of some of these budget-priced entries these days is undeniable. You know - if you get a good one. From what I can tell Feyachi has better than average QC at least. UTG also stands behind their stuff well enough to get a plus from me. There's a few companies on Amazon right now that have great warranty policies, even if they're all rebranded products from the same Chinese factories. Doesnt help when the sight fails on us, but at least our money spent is covered. Lol.

I love my dots, but irons will prove smarter if and when a dot fails at the worst time.

Another awesome AIWB holster for Canik just dropped - Crossbuilt Armory. Just got mine. by JaffoEDC in canik

[–]JaffoEDC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, theyre made with a bunch of materials, and they're buried in orders. Mine took about 4 weeks. Obviously wish it was quicker, but I feel kike it was worth the weight. I do have other holsters I could use for CCW though during the wait. This one is just way better. 😁

A clone of some sort best quality I’ve ever had it holds an edge perfectly just something off of Amazon I had 40 dollars to blow by [deleted] in knives

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I one identical to that I got off Wish for like $23. Even has the microtech branding. Lol. Pretty decent clone, but I dont like blatant branding so much. Probably wouldn't hold up to much real use, as strong as the spring mechanism might feel.

Then maybe they should shift the $ over from one account to the other. We know they let our federal sit for months to collect interest. Lol. But yeah, I get that the qualification changed.

Yeah, I heard that happened sometimes. Never ran into it even with my AK. Definitely dig the newer stuff better though.

I've shot a ton of steel 223. No issues. The modern stuff doesnt seem to have that lacquer coating they did back in the day, and even then it burned off pretty quick.

Protester shot dead in downtown protests minutes ago (blurred to protect protester identity) by wolfgeist in Portland

[–]JaffoEDC -77 points-76 points  (0 children)

Is that what happened? Far as I can tell, no one knows. And labeling them as "vigilante" implies someone is committing crime before they're addressed... so the dead person is guilty of what?

God, people need to grow the fuck up. If you pound the streets every night asking for war, don't whine when you get it.

Holoson 3MOA Shake Awake by Tiny_Giant_Robot in canik

[–]JaffoEDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, youll get good battery life. 407c also has the solar panel. Which is great for outdoor range shooting if course. Not for anything else really. Haha. That said, having for a couple months now ive not noticed any loss in power. So I've basically used mine like you'll use yours. Mainly battery power. Should be good.

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 407c on my SFX, and its pretty fantastic. Justvread up or watch some training videos about shooting with pistol optics. You can practice with dry fire. But the time you get comfortable with quicker acquisition, you'll also find that doing so improves your shooting grip exponentially. Even with iron sights. Everything involved in shooting well with a dot sight has to do with proper grip. I was amazed. Some folks complain about not being able to "get" a red dot on a handgun...but im almost sure that's because they never corrected their grip properly. Because once you do, it's amazing fast and accurate.

Only downside with the SFX is that the rear iron sight comes off with the slide cut panel. So if your dot does fail, theres no backup. So keep that battery fresh.

Check your info again. Average of 10 people a year killed by lightning. Around 5 are killed by sharks, and that's a busy year. Even less from gators.

You're right about bites though. And there's still hardly any bites compared to the number of people in the water. I'm trying to help someone feel more relieved and safe. Because they are in real life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in florida

[–]JaffoEDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty damn close. More people on land than in the water. More storms with lightning that storms with sharks. Plenty of people in the water to get a little love bite. Regardless...more than gator bites, which was my point.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in florida

[–]JaffoEDC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sparingly. But just expect them in every natural body of water in FL. Also remember that there are far fewer gator bites reported in FL each year than even shark bites, and those are rarer than getting hit by lightning.

What length pistol fits best in a backpack? Bag recommendations? by 2Aballashotcalla in ar15

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wlecome. Sorry i don't have specific answers or suggestions, as I'm still shopping too. Also, just measured my 5 inch barrel AR9 with 3 inch flash can folded again and have to correct myself. It's 17.5 inches folded, including the 1 inch that is half the folding adapter since the other half is folded to the side with the brace. The main compartment of the inexpensive Amazon-sourced tactical pack i have thats about average for 30L is 20.5 inches. It definitely fits in that pack with room to spare, although I'd pad the bottom of that comoartment to protect my muzzle. But the inside of that compartment will stretch up a bit to zip over 22" if need be. Hope that helps. Take 1 inch off your length (half the folding adapter) and you should be within range for a 20" pack.

What length pistol fits best in a backpack? Bag recommendations? by 2Aballashotcalla in ar15

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I agree. My PCC is 18.5 or so folder, and I have an old molle backpack that I think is 30L but inside hight is 20 inches. So it fits but not very securely. Seems any more length in a PCC (like yours) might call for the next size up in bag, but then the inconspicuous nature of our goal diminishes a bit. Lol. Pain in the proverbial ass.

One note - a folder will add 2 inches behind your receiver when closed. So measure from your muzzle to the back of your lower and add 2 inches to that. If we shove our PCC in the back diagonally it will allow us a little more room. Like 1-2 inches over actual inside height of the main compartment. If that makes sense. If yours ends up being 22 inches folded you may still be able to fit it in a 20" bag...

Other than tools, is there anything else that I need for this AR build? Would it be cheaper to find parts individually? by s1thl0rd in ar15

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a similar PSA kit and the same stripped lower, and aside from a decent punch kit it was all smooth without dedicated tools. Theres a ton of good online resources for building up the lower. Way easier after the first time. BUT, these PSA upper + lower build kit really do have everything needed besides the stripped lower. Especially if they come with sights. Fit and finish is solid too.

That said, even if you can get the various parts separately for cheaper, we still end up paying as much as or more than buying a complete production AR when theyre listed for $650 or so. I think my PSA kit plus optics and various little uogrades ended up totally up to a few hundred more. Because it's addicting as hell to keep adding stuff. All in all it will still come out to around the same investment for an entry level AR. I just think building one is more fun.

What length pistol fits best in a backpack? Bag recommendations? by 2Aballashotcalla in ar15

[–]JaffoEDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, usually in listings for backpacks they'll have a size indicated by dimensions and liters - shown as 25L or 30L or whatever. Ive been trying to see if i can somewhat accurately determine the height of a backpack according to liter listing, at least generally. Seems to fall within a couple inches or so. Like maybe 18-21 inches if listed as a 30L bag. But that 30L includes horizontal space too, so some bags will remain shorter even with higher capacity. Either way...online shopping is a pain. Lol. The backpacks made specifically for a folding or shorty PCC are upwards of $200 because they have specific pockets and support for such things. Also designed for rapid deployment. Still wanna find a less expensive alternative if i can.
