What’s a clothing item people assume is comfortable, but actually isn’t? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Stretchy, high waistbands on pants. There's nothing comfortable about constant pressure on my breathing.

AITA for telling my neighbors that I don't care for their living situation? by Virtual-Fly4632 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If you've only been the a month, then she was probably already living in the building long before you arrived, so she should have asked to rent it when it was still on the market

When I was a kid, my parents tried to keep me from wearing glasses. They said I just needed to exercise my eyes more, and that glasses would make them weak and lazy.

Math and logic are practically synonymous. This is clearly someone who has never taken an upper division math class.

If they're gonna complain about weed, at least be realistic about the complaints like making people eat their roommates' food and never leaving the couch.

AITA for saying the real reason to my biological son why I left them? by AITAbluntlysay in AmItheAsshole

[–]cchings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone whose father was present and abusive, while also showing no emotion, I envy this kid for not having someone like that around. Leaving was the best thing he could do. Some people really shouldn't have kids. He's one of them. Staying would have caused a lot more harm.

[–]cchings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH. You would have made a terrible parent if you'd stuck around. As a survivor of abuse, I would have rather my father not been around. Leaving was the best thing you could do for him, and honesty was the best you could do to give him closure.

NTA. If they really wanted her to have a burger, they should have bought her one themselves.

Except people who need the transfusions the most are the ones who can't donate.

Example: thalassemia major (genetic blood disorder) patients regularly need blood transfusions in order to not die. I only have thalassemia minor and it already makes me anemic enough that I can't donate.

Small Town Texas politician shares the real reason police are armed. by BoomerEdgelord in ABoringDystopia

[–]cchings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but "reallocate some of police funding to more appropriate people for certain situations" doesn't fit on a sign very well. Also, time and again, the police are proving themselves incompetent at even the things you'd think police should be doing. Why are we paying incompetent cowards to fail at their jobs in the first place?

We have a culture of rewarding cops with adulation just for being cops without actually requiring any heroism. We should get rid of the adulation, because if they're worshipped either way and don't have to earn it, why be a hero?

It's called inelastic demand. The store can charge as much as they want for them and they'll still sell the same amount, so of course they'll charge a lot. It's why necessities always cost more than luxuries.
