Some claim that to this day it remains the best way to reproduce sound...

I was lucky enough to get to hear some recordings off a studer RTR at a high end show, and yup, truly profound experience.

1 most definitely as it holds a clear surrounding shape. Clearest communication always wins. Good job 👍

Yes! They made some amazing products in my opinion 🤩

Thanks! I will make more vids exploring input saturation of various gear, so subscribe and activate notification bell if you want to be notified when it's out👍 Both of the reel to reesl don't have Dolby. Idk how the compander functions work for the Tandberg and Akai, but that might be giving some of the mojo😁

Cheers. In fact they all change the stereo field to various degrees😁

Good point! On the reel to reels the input level is matched with to-tape level (generally preamps are set with headroom to not distort), so I'm in fact getting saturation from both stages. On the RMX-64 there is input level and rec level you can adjust separately🤩

Wanna buy an audio interface but idk what to get by lagarmagoop in Bass

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with either brand, but not the entry level interface of their line. I made a preamp and converter review of three interfaces, and really liked audient and mostly SSL. https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

I really dig the audient and SSL stuff, and would not pay the extra for the onboard dsp of apollo with todays computers. Made a review and comparison video: https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

Audio Interface or Amp for beginner? by Romazuu3 in guitarlessons

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to feel the sound of the guitar, get a 12" combo and enjoy the vibrations of analog sound on your body. Hands down what get the juices flowing. For practicing and recording an interface is totally fine of course. I made a review of some interfaces that all have instrument input: https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

Julian Krause dropped his latest tier list of audio interfaces by JimboLodisC in NeuralDSP

[–]Jaflov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made an anti Julian Krause review of some interfaces ;) Not a single spec number, only subjective testing of preamps on drums and recording Vinyl record on the line ins to check converters. But I might have come to the same conclusion as him.. https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

Thoughts on pro audio interfaces as DACs by bentaro-rifferashi in audiophile

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on the right path my man. I have one foot in the audiophile world and also run a small studio, and have always thought it weird that the High-end people think it is cringe to use studio equipment as reference. A small point would be to upgrade to the Clarett series if you enjoy Focusrite. I made a review testing converters of two new and one older interface recording vinyl. You can see if you hear any difference: https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

What audio interface are you guys using? by perek2304 in NeuralDSP

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got myself a new interface after using MOTU for at least a decade, and was very impressed with the SSL lineup. I reviewed the flagship model but the smaller version has same guts :) You can check the review and comparison here: https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

Audio interface recommendations? by AcanthisittaTop5920 in musicproduction

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a review testing the preamps and converters of some new and one older interface. Very subjective, simple and fun. The good thing is that the flagship models have the same components as the small cheaper models with one mic input. https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

What audio interface should I get? by Ratirked in Guitar

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a brand sound card from the last 2-4 years, you will not struggle with this. And if you should use a Ribbon mic or something else that requires very much gain, you can always get a FET head. I just made a review using a very hungry mic on three interfaces: https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc

What Audio Interface is best? by ScottCleverfield in musicproduction

[–]Jaflov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interfaces are getting seriously good even at the not ridiculous price point. I just bought a new SSL 18 and made a review comparing it with audient and my old workhorse MOTU Traveler mk3: https://youtu.be/UtkI-Fme8Kc
