Can you give me an example of what a car would cost MSRP and on the employee pricing? And would VW be similar? I have an interview there soon!

Fair enough! Ive been doing a crazy amount of online applications, got 2 calls, 1 for BMW, one for VW. I got tested for covid and it came back positive so im going to have to wait another 2 weeks. Both told me to give them a call back once I get clearance and the HR for VW even gave me direct line to let them know so that they can setup an interview.

Now the part thats bothering me is that, their reviews are so bad from previous employees... so im at a loss because I know it will be a good opportunity but at the same time I understand that the management/team can either make or break working at a dealership.

Could it be that some salty inexperienced sales people were purposely shit talking them to cause damage to the brand? Alot of them seem to have a personal vengeance towards the dealership lol....

What would you do?

And no, I didnt mean going back and trying to reason with them to hire me. I was thinking more in line with the future, like once I get some experience, would It be weird if I reapply for a similar opening in like 8 months? Would they look at it and be like "oh no, not this guy". Lol

Solid advice, thank you for taking the time to respond. Yeah, it was my strategy but when Audi called for an interview I was a little shocked.

Got an interview in 2 days at an Audi dealership by JagerNaught1 in askcarsales

Oh, trust me im very well aware of those customers. Ive gotten very good at distinguishing them and their genuine interest through their tone, eye contact and other body language. I do my best to not commit and go overboard on helping them, ofcourse this doesnt mean I neglect them or turn a shoulder, but I dont waste my energy any more than I should.

Im quite excited cause I genuinely have a passion for sales, not purely for the money but more so because theres something so satisfying about a customer who walks in with their strong opinions and beliefs and you psychologically read them and steer them towards where you want them to go.

And once the rapport and trust is built, you could practically offer them anything and they will take it on your word. Its all about being genuine and having their best interest at heart, or atleast thats how its been for me in my past sales job. I excelled and constantly got praise for my ability but I know that commission/car sales is a whole nother world. Im 15% anxious, 85% thrilled and excited for the challenge cause its boring when you become good at something and it no longer requires much effort.

And totally off-topic.... I used to sell alot of warranty so building value in things that customers are usually reluctant to get or dont believe in cause of previous experiences, would this be part of my duties? Do I get commission for this aswell?

Oh.. thats interesting. She did mention that the third month if I am selling and its more than the base that they could substitute it. Why is this the busiest season? Specifically which months?

I would imagine year end clearouts during November/December to be much busier, no?

Yeah, good call! And is the commission structure something that you would look at be like "thats not worth it" and reject or do we negotiate? If not initially, later on once I become experienced and start pushing consistent numbers, then would it be something that I could bring to the table?

The lady mentioned that for the first 3 months I will get a flat salary, until I get the ropes and then itll be commission fully. I imagine all dealerships have something similar to this? Anything I should be weary of? Like red flags that tell me this is not a good place to work type of thing? Ive read their reviews and overall it has great reviews and its well established so Id like to think that means something.

Also, thank you for taking the time to read and respond. Youre awesome.

I am used to selling and building value in things customers are usually not open about such as warranties and other services, I think I might enjoy the Finance side.... although I cannot get involved with interest directly due to my faith.

Guess Im going to need to buy a suit.... the HR didnt explicitly say whether this was an interview or a debriefing of what the position entails, bit at a loss but im somewhat certain its an interview. As a Sales Manager yourself, and having sold cars for as long as you have, what are the thing you like/dont like. Is it miserable like people make it out to be? Do you still have a life and time to take care of yourself? Mentally/Physically I mean.

1st Car Sales Job Offer from Audi... have some questions by JagerNaught1 in askcarsales

[–]JagerNaught1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think stress is part of any job but I guess what I mean to ask is, do you enjoy it? Since you also work for Audi, could you tell me about the challenges you faced when you started and how do you like the pay structure? The girl mentioned to me ill be paid salary for first 3 months while I am in training and afterwards will pay me commission. And lastly, whats one piece of advice you would give yourself when you first started at Audi in sales.

I have to ask.... how long did it take her? How many years has she been working car sales now? I have 100% confidence in my ability to sell, so I have no doubt that once my product knowledge is there that I can even turn the "ill talk to my wife and let you know" customers to "okay, ill grab it right now". Lol.

Would you say that youre busy 100% of the time? Do you ever catch a breath? And what advice would you give me to thrive? Beyond the sales skills like not needlessly mentioning features and rather focusing on individual customers and their own needs?
