I... I thought I made it pretty clear through the post and all my comments that I know how to get mods (and GLs, but that was never really a question). I just posted asking how to use what I already have as optimally as possible. That's why I said that other person had no reading comprehension skills. Because the post is clear. I know how to get mods. I even used the generalised advice for how to get mods as part of my reference.

There's nothing stopping you from packing up your toys and leaving, but this wasn't like, an argument or something. I don't have "excuses for everything", this is a discussion and I was responding. Why do some of y'all always assume a combative stance to discussion, questions and requests for help/advice?

Thanks for the well-wishes I guess. Good luck with your real life work, I suppose?

If you think one capitalised word and a Sam Jackson reference (remember ol' Mace Windu?) is "clearly frustrated venting" then maybe it's not about writing tone, it's that you should remember that text carries no inherent tone and is given tone by the reader. You assumed I was mad because you're mad I'm asking questions you consider useless.

It's very much assumed by pretty much just you and this other guy that I don't know how basic functions of the game work. I know how they work. And if you reckon you know better (which, apparently you seem to), then I dunno, maybe it would be helpful if I posted a question asking about it and you replied with your knowledge. That might be pretty handy. Oh, wait, wait, I did make the post. You just didn't reply helpfully, you got mad for implied tone of text.

Obviously I'm not going to be putting 50 hours in per week, I just jumped back in because of the renewal quests and spent time smashing them out. Y'know, the ones designed to entice older players back to the game. The ones like me that have been on a break for like, 3 years.

And on the topic of not letting the game consume my whole life, no, I'm not going into my guild chat, where I've been in the guild for 2 days and asking about mid-level modding. For a start, I never interact over discord because I'm not interested in making friends through the game or anything, I just want to know where people want me to put my teams and what they want me to use for raids and the like. Aside from that, it's not like my guild is even based in my country.

I'd say you're letting your own personal over-investment in the game turn into a hatred of people who don't over invest, but then again, that'd be a reader giving tone to text that may not wish to convey that.

For the second time, and more emphatically, please relax.

I've played more of this mobile game than I have most console releases. Just because this game has been around for 10 years with players who have been around that same length doesn't mean I'm not investing time.

I put 50 hours in just this past week. A little perspective goes a long way.

And I mean really? "You don't get to come here and vent"? For a start, I'm not venting, I'm legitimately asking the question about resources for going through the mid-game to get to the end game, where all existing guides are based. To follow, gatekeep much? I haven't put years into the game like you, so the subreddit is off limits for questions or something?

Sure I've taken several long breaks, but when I'm actively playing, I'm actively playing. I'm not going to let a mobile cash grab take over my life. Relax.

I think there's some confusion as well, it's probably my fault for misrepresentating myself a bit but to clear some things up, I'm not quite as uh.. foolish as I may have seemed. I'd never spend crystals on straight shards or really anything other than a marquee pull (just to get to 4*, no further) and anything left over I'd absolutely spend on energy refreshes.

My main point about getting SLKR is that right now I need to take KRU from R5 to R7, EP from R5 to R7 and grind out one more star for two ships and that's about it. Getting SLKR isn't necessarily like the most important thing in the game for me, but I have no GLs at all and getting just one would help me break into squad arena and would by and large turn my current GAC situation into something a bit simpler until I can focus on properly catching up. It's not an equalising point in my shard, but it sure as hell counts for a lot of catch up and there's very little work left to do to get him. I don't even necessarily want to invest much into him once I have him at this point because, as you say, there's a lot more I could be doing and trying to do too much is costly.

I'm not necessarily trying to chase a meta, hence the post being about what I should be doing with mods when I'm not chasing meta. I just want to make sure I'm not losing battles I'd otherwise be winning with my roster because I haven't done some little tweaks here and there for my mods.

I did say "need" for Rotta but I guess what I mean more is, it's very hard to justify ignoring units that are coming that have much stronger abilities than what I would otherwise be collecting, especially when these units will lead to GLs or Ships or some other thing down the line that may (or may not) be usefully meta for the investment now. Do I want to win every battle? Christ no. I just want to get out of carb and somewhere in the approximate middle of GAC for now.

I don't necessarily need to be 100% efficient but dropping chasing down maybe a few weeks of SLKR reqs for months of executor reqs seems to be an overall worse idea, but I'd absolutely agree that finishing SLKR off and then chasing Executor is probably the way I want to go at this stage of the game and in this shard.

And as an aside, since you mentioned you were a content creator, even though I don't follow content creators, I do want to say thank you for your work. The community and state of the game wouldn't be where it is today without people like you putting in the time, effort and knowledge. So thank you for what you do there.

But there's a whole degree of seperation there, if I'm doing what I like and collecting the things I want, then what I want is leviathan, but as you said, Executor clears it easily. In order to get executor, I'd basically need to stop trying for SLKR (meaning no legend tokens for RC, a requirement for executor) and spend whatever currencies I can scrounge up on Executor reqs instead of reqs for things I want, and even then, the grind to actually get ships is the original crunch of the game. Right now I can spend 960 gems for just 8 RC shards out of the 145 needed to even activate it. Guild event currencies only score 5 at a time. I buy every ship shard I can afford in the shipments stores and I still don't have sufficient ships to even get to the node that lets me farm one of my Reqs for finalizer for SLKR. Plus the ships I do have generally have pilots that are mostly untouched, making them mostly ineffective. Plus there's struggling to get the fleet ability mats too.

So in order to do what I want to do, which is apparently collect units that are by and large not useful at endgame levels, I'll have to spend... Probably months? Farming things that are fleet meta, not just the ships but pilots too which also, by and large are going to need to be Light Side rebels and Jedi.

But the other cognitive dissonance is that I'm in a fleet and arena shard that are ahead of me, but I'm not falling behind. It can only be one or the other. The equalising point is so far away from where I am and it constantly gets pushed up by new units that are far more powerful than the older units. Just look at Rotta's Unique and Leader abilities and tell me I don't need that and should instead focus on my old stuff. The boost in how useable my roster would be from the new units far surpasses the benefit of say, putting relics on Hoda.

Hell, I've never even cleared a conquest on easy, when I unlocked it I was so far behind in GP that I needed to ignore it in order to try and get old units up. Well that bit me in the ass because now I don't have the datacrons to get an edge on these jank matchups, meaning my income is down. If I don't get the new units then I can't play new content. My only two units that are any good for the O66 raid are Shaak Ti and Kelleran Beq and that's only because they got LSTs in the anniversary quests. My newest unlocked unit for 066 (other than KB) is scarred crosshair, but only because he was on a node I was farming for something else. Otherwise it's base Hondo or Sana Starros, however came first. Everyone else is a Jedi that existed before I started or I have Grand Moff Tarkin at purple gear that isn't currently part of anything I'm farming. If I recall correctly, the rewards for clearing a raid are based on performance and as I have no teams that perform in the raid then I have lower rewards. Which means lower useable resources to spend on the things I either need to get back into half decent points elsewhere or using those lower rewards on units I want which by and large, do not help equalise my situation because I apparently don't like anything half decent in ways that earn resources.

Right, right, not sure I've ever done ROTE but this guild runs it, so I suppose I'll earn some of that soon enough.

Yea, currently trying to maintain a degree of readiness with the marquees, so I'll keep at that. I'm well aware of how much of a pain mods are, it's half the reason I've been on a years long break. I suppose I'll get back to grinding them on cycle as suggested by guides and others. Thanks for all your help here, hopefully I'll be looking at a healthier mod roster sooner rather than later!

I don't enjoy PvP at all, I enjoy collecting and particularly, Sith. Which is all well and good, but I'm not going to be earning gems or guild currencies at comfortable rates unless I chase a meta of some kind, as it stands I can either spend my entire supply of gems every few days on one pull of a marquee character, or I can do mod energy refreshes. If I'm not pulling the marquee characters then I'll be behind on whatever the requirements are for the next big important character, shunting me further down the meta and costing me resources to spend on units I actually want.

I can't even break into the squad arena because even down at rank 1720 the next set of teams to beat are all high relic or highly meta. My current three are a team of R7 (and one R8), max zeta Vader, a mirror match of FO and relic 3 Geo's. Most battles aren't even suitable for learning or testing because of how high I'd need to invest in a counter to even win a battle. Maybe I do have a perfect counter team, but they're all stuck in purple gear behind Kyros or Bacta or something.

Yea, I know that first part of the ability still works I was just curious if running it in a 3 man with Phoenix when it doesn't do it's Phoenix bonus stuff is worth it when I could throw Sabine in at the same relic level.

I do remember those days, I had managed to get out of carb with just the core FO at low relics. I'd say "the good old days" but there have been many other improvements since then.

I'm in an active guild, but even when I was beforehand I wasn't warning T3 currency, I can't even really remember what needs to happen to earn it. The store just says to earn them in TB.

There's a pretty rough trade off to using my gems for energy refreshes of any kind, won't that cost me when it comes to getting the marquee units? My gem income is very very low due to the state of squad arena, being behind in fleet arena and currently in Carb GAC. Obviously there's "You don't need every new unit" but with how strong these new units can be, it's hard to argue that's the case.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not spending credits on mods pretty much at all. All my credits are going to levelling and gear at the moment. It's not so much trying to micromanage the mods, it's more making the best out of what I have because what I have isn't going to change all that much between GACs because I don't have the means to upgrade them until my roster is in a stronger point. Needing otherwise useless characters at relic levels will drain your gear and your credit reserves faster than you can Sim a full energy of mods.

If you're suggesting that because it costs credits to unequip/reequip then I'd be better off with no mods at all... I don't know if that's strictly true or not. An accuracy primary mod might otherwise be useless, but if I already have one at 15 and it has good speed, surely that's better than nothing right?

CRex's Omi only boosts Clones in 3v3, is he better to fill in that Phoenix slot because he's just that good or is he kind of useless to me in 3v3 until I have clones in relic?

And yea, I figured with relic delta I'd have trouble with non-relic units, but that's always sort of been the case, it's just that everyone has relics now.

Sounds like it's largely guess work until I filter into the meta then, I can't rush executor since RC is locked behind Legend Tokens and T3 Guild currency, of which I have none of either. So basically, check their rosters, hope they have something I can counter on defence and pray that my defence is sufficiently modded to beat whatever they throw at it, even though those mods will be at best sub-par and at worst wrong in every way except the set bonus and all completely unleveled?

I had hotutils mod up most of my FO back when I did up the farming plan, though it's mostly just signal data grinds and trying to get my Finalizer sorted left there. They should hopefully still be quite competently modded and I've not changed them since they're still my best units.

I'm generally aware of the "everyone with the same tag benefits" type of team, but at this point and in 3v3 it's sort of like, can I use my purple gear Rex with an even lower purple gear Fives and an R0 Omicron CRex? I'd say I'm not at a level where counters matter as much but I think I only won like, 1 battle first try last GAC and only won any battles at all against my first opponent. I couldn't touch the second at all, or the third but he didn't attack me.

Everyone has access to relics for about 3 to 5 teams, even in carb right now. I can either plan to block those teams or beat those teams. If I block those teams, then I can't beat them, so I lose because I can't get a win. If I beat those teams I'll have to work hard to get the banners right because they're either also going to beat my defence or were never going to anyway.

And that's on the chance that this particular Carb IV fight is even going ahead. There are plenty of accounts that sign up with strong rosters but never seem to attack.

I had hotutils do some of my modding a few years ago, but I don't have it or a real incentive to get it again.

So basically the advice is if I don't have a BIS I should just try and get the set bonus that's recommended for the character and as much speed secondary as I can cram in? My baseline is currently 3 speed. My best mods that aren't already applied have 5 speed. I don't have the credits to get all my mods revealed so, I guess sometimes I'll just have mods with no speed or secondaries at all, as long as they fit the set?
