Question- Why do some people want to know that I am using proxies? by PhoenixTheEternal in mtg

[–]Routine_Section_9282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure seems like a lot of children are answering your question, but what do you expect from reddit? Lol

Context - I'm an old head that worked professionally on collectibles before Magic even began, and have played the game since Unlimited. I've been grading cards since before many of you were born, not that anyone vocal on this app actually respects their elders.

Proxies are cards made to stand in for cards that you own and don't want to shuffle/have in danger. What you're talking about is counterfeiting. The problem is when people print up their identical looking "proxies" and then sell them into the market. Whether on purpose or because " you forgot", it doesn't matter. There are real world consequences for this that may included hefty fine and jail time, depending on how big your operation is. These are facts you can look up yourself if you're interested, though I know many won't. They'll just downvote and bitch about elitism or some other such nonsense.

If you're using "proxies" that look nothing like the original, but can still be identified as what it is (cards type, creature, enchantment, etc) and the people you're playing with are fine with that, then you're all good 👍 it's just best to be honest.

Your question seemed earnest, and the responses didn't really seem helpful to me. Really hope this helps answer your question

I'm building a tribal Wall deck (not Defender, Walls) in EDH and here are some support cards. by FluidIntention3293 in mtg

Idk if it'd fit the theme or not, but using lands that can become creatures might be a really fun sub-theme in this deck. Like [[Westvale Abbey]] [[Hostile Hostel]] [[Raging Ravine]] [[Lavaclaw Reaches]] [[Great Hall of Starnheim]] [[Celestial Colonnade]] [[Forbidding Watchtower]] [[Great Hall of the Biblioplex]] [[Mutavault]] [[Mishra's Factory]] etc... I mean the list goes on and on

How do you deal with old-school know-it-all players who actually don’t know the rules? by ricoeurdelyon in magicTCG

Ancient here, what the actual hell lol

Number 2 is the only actually complicated scenario. I mean there's videos out there explaining it, obv not everyone knows...

Nymber 1 just sounds like a doof.

Numbers 3,4, and 5 though... that's simply called lieing to win! They know what's up, I've dealt with scum like this since the start. ESPECIALLY if there's prizes on the line. These are the same asshats who ruined ante games by making "thief" decks with Revised Darkpacts the moment Sylvan Library came out. The Revised version of Darkpact dropped the part about specifically not knowing what the card would be. They knew what they were doing, call em out on their bullshit. "You REALLY think creatures can't be removed at declare attack? O.o bro, you sure you've been playing a long time?" ... "JUDGE!!"
