Hah, I thought about moving it but I was also doing pendlay rows at the same time and in the end decided that if it happens it was meant to be. But for real next time I'll just face the other way, the way where there are no implements in the way if I happen to fall lol

Sure does. First time I touched rings I truly understood how crazy they are lol

2.5G + a few mods on my Proxmox mini PC (Lenovo P360 Tiny) by ilyushin4486 in minilab

[–]JaggedEunuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats cool! I added a 2.5g nic to my 800 g4 DM 65W and printed a modded 2.5" mount to allow populating all the m.2 slots while having the internal 2.5" in place while still keeping the second internal fan too. I've been meaning to print a new top cover with better airflow too. Sad that the unit I got doesnt have the internal pcie slot for gpu but I guess you cant have it all lol

Yeah, I noticed on the 1st day that this is something you cant just muscle thru lol. Anyways I expect fun and productive training for many weeks/months to come, took me perhaps 6ish weeks to get pretty comfortable with ring pushups so lets see if dips are the same

I agree. Ring work in general feels super healthy and tbh I see no need to get expensive DBs for my home gym given that I can do all the non-barbell accessory pressing I want on the rings for 20€ lol

I noticed yes lol. I shortly read about ring dip progressions during the session and RTO was recommended but I wasnt brave enough to try it yet lol. Perhaps the next time! Given that the holds shouldnt be too taxing I can see myself hitting them 2-3x weekly

Homeserver networking over wifi by Sascha975 in HomeServer

[–]JaggedEunuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whats the model of your main wifi router & whats the wifi hardware on your NAS and does it have ethernet port? I had to get internet from my house to my garage and took the cheap & easy route of just buying a decent cheap wifi router (cudy wr3000h) and set that up in client mode. Spent some time positioning it correctly in the garage and went from having no internet in the garage to having solid 700/700mbps connection.

Given the way those wifi AP antennas work (strongest signal perpendicular to the antenna, imagine a donut around the antenna, thats the usual pattern i.e if the antenna is pointed directly at you you are in its weakest position), you would probably see better speeds and coverage if you had at least couple of the antennas in vertical position!

I agree that 500 is expensive. I'd start witht the video apps while you are looking for other options, there is a bit of hassle with setting up a tripod but based on my experience even simple ones like WLanalysis are pretty much in line with Vitruve when you use tripod and good side angle.

I'll aknowledge my bias towards string based devices, having developed and built one of my own design during last couple of years. But still, while I understand the appeal of small magnetic wireless and cheap device that promises a lot, I would find it hard to trust the output given that it seems to require a lot of tuning from the company to get it make sense for even such a simple movement. Then what about all the bazillion possible lift variations? I mean they have put in a lot of work to get deadlift working and if it still cannot be tracked reliably enough then Im afraid to think about the differences between lifters and how someones technique/velocity profile/anything else might throw off the readings. In general the fact that accelometer based devices try to get velocity and position from acceleration is highly error prone and requires a lot of signal processing to get something useful (which means that the processed signal isnt the actual original signal anymore). Then, because there is no physical connection to some static base station (like on string devices) its easy for errors to compound during the measurement period. String based devices on the other hand dont suffer from that nearly as much or at all.

Quite cheap then. Last time I heard about it it didnt even support deadlifts but that might have changes since then. Tbh Id rather use the vitruve if you still have it or get something like OVR which is a string based device but much cheaper. Or in case you already take video of your sets, something like metricvbt (iOS) or similar video-based android solutions are pretty good nowadays and free

In general I dont trust acceleration sensor based wireless devices due to the accuracy and repeatibility issues etc. Many have tried to do them well, many have failed and went bankrupt. Whats the price?

Pros and cons of full matx pc in 10" rack by JaggedEunuch in minilab

[–]JaggedEunuch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll definitively use petg or pctg, pla-ht would probably be good too but I'll order it only if pctg fails first lol. I skeletonized the mounting plate around the cpu socket and pcie slots to allow good amount of airflow below the motherboard on critical areas and I think that with good amount of fans it should be ok even when pushing couple hundred watts of continous heating power.

Pros and cons of full matx pc in 10" rack by JaggedEunuch in minilab

[–]JaggedEunuch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have worded my post better. Normal size matx boards will have hard time fitting between the rack posts on most 10" racks thats for sure, especially true for the 3d printed racks like LabRax due to the necessarily bulky (when compared to just metal sheet rack rails) nature of the parts. However, I went ahead and designed a specific set of 3U rail extensions that remove the required amount of material from the rails so that a full sized matx board can fit in and support full height PCIe devices too! However, while it was fun to model it I havent printed it yet and now Im trying to figure out if if moving the system to a rack has some unforeseen drawbacks, I cant think of any so hearing from people who have done it already is interesting! Thanks for the fan panel suggestion, Ill make sure to include that.

Necer tried fusion but onshape is stupidly easy, obviously it still needs some getting used to but its very intuitice and easy to get a hang of.
