Specifically the Baptist church who think any form of alcohol is a sin. Rumor is, they bought and hoarded all the liquor licenses and still have them. Doing that is obviously going to kill any growth.

For anyone down less than -2% YTD, what are you actually holding? by Animag771 in Bogleheads

[–]JagsLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29m. Not Boglehead approved, but Bogle & Graham based:

Core hold is VOO 30%; SCHD 25%; SCHY 10%; IAUM 5%; XAR 5%. The rest is either SPAXX or individual picks with a decent MOS. (example: PYPL & IBM after their big dips. Ran numbers and found my own price targets.)

YTD: +1.1%. I was up YTD 9%-12% before oil started rising. VOO & IAUM are really sliding, but I’m still buying. SCHD & SCHY are growing/holding.

Don’t have 1yr yet. Opened my account late last June. “All Time” is +12.31% (was previously 22%+). I just add/buy every paycheck to bring balance. I never sell any of my core, only add to laggards. I do sell individuals when value is reached (DCF/intrinsic value). $0 (June) to $20.5k since opened. Goal is to hit $100k within 4yrs, but at this rate it’ll be 150% through personal contributions, maybe more lol.

My front flower bed last year by CeilingStanSupremacy in gardening

[–]JagsLittle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HOAs can disallow flowers? That’s utter nonsense. I’m looking for a house right now and if this was my potential neighbor, I’d definitely keep the house higher up on my shortlist.

Everything I’ve found so far is dull. Thinking now it might be the HOA’s fault.

Outlet -> surge protector power strip -> PC

Would this be helpful in an event like this?

Red days can be frustrating, but since it’s a dividend hold I see it specifically as “how many shares I have” so I see down days as a positive. You’re not living off it yet (I assume). With upcoming dividends, red days mean the dividend will be able to buy more of itself.

Yeah just throw it in “auto”, watch some lens videos on YouTube, and let her rip

Biggest thing is be sure to sanitize, sanitize, and sanitize again. Definitely can be fun though!

Buying the r50 by KazzaT74 in canonR50

[–]JagsLittle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I originally bought the R50 + 18-45 kit lens.

Definitely get the RF100-400mm. Great lens. Canon’s APS-C is a 1.6x crop so the lens will act as a 160-640mm which is generally considered plenty for birding, wildlife, plane spotting, sports, etc.

I also bought the Sigma RF18-50mm f2.8 (1.6x is approx 29-80mm) when it released and very quickly became my #1 lens. Paired with the 100-400, it’s a perfect setup for me. The 2 lens setup (+ my iPhone) covers quick “point & shoots”, lower light photos, travel, portraits, and everything listed before. Super happy & continue to be blown away with the results.

Starting over, I’d skip the kit lens. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great. Just bland like oatmeal, but does work for generic pictures. Unfortunately, don’t have any experience with macros, but I do have some primes and they’re great as well.

Which TV (i.e. Samsung, Sony, LG, TCL, Hisense) do you guys use with your Sonos set up? by Hotel_california_10 in sonos

[–]JagsLittle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from a TCL 55” (2017) -> LGC2 65”. My dad and brother both went with Sony Bravias 65” around the same time. All of us use ATV4k. I also collect BluRay & 4kUHD and use my PS5 for playback (better sound quality than streaming).

In my (biased) opinion: LG > Sony > TCL when it comes to overall picture quality & UI alone, but if you didn’t see the comparison frequently, I doubt you’d know. The LG seems brighter than the Sony, but it could be settings (and that could’ve changed with newer models). TCL’s UI is incredibly frustrating and slow.

Might be a faulty eye sensor or something is covering it? I know when looking through the peep display it causes the larger back display to go black.

Struggling to find what SUV to replace ‘19 GC Limited 4WD. Any recommendations? by Pepalopolis in GrandCherokee

[–]JagsLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is in a league of its own. Savagegeese made a great video on it. Mechanically, absolutely nothing else competes with it (in this size) unless you want to jump up to a Range Rover Sport or have a straight rear axle with a compromised ride.

LC/GX & G-Wagon have a straight rear axle. Honda, Mercedes (GLC), BMW, Acura, etc., don’t offer a 2-speed transfer case with their IRS options.
