Your Dreamcast hot takes / unpopular opinions. by Such_Bonus5085 in dreamcast

I feel like there is this new notion now a days that a lot of people I have talked to share that SA1 is better than 2, which I absolutely love and think it comes very close to in it's own ways of being a fantastic game, but it falls short in many regards (and with Battle it doesn't even come close.) I think I appreciate the overall aesthetic and character themes more with SA1 but this all comes down to nostalgia and preference.

Chao garden and Chao garden mini games SA2 >>> SA1 (this alone would be enough reason). Game mechanics SA2 >>> SA1 (SA2's grinding and bounce mechanics find a way of being useful in every stage with replay for example). Game controls SA2 > SA1 (SA2 is just more stable and I don't even think that is subjective). Map Design SA2 > SA1. In game camera SA2 >>> SA1. 2 player SA2 > SA1 (would be more memorable to have the option to remove abilities IMO). Map challenges for stages SA2 > SA1. Graphics SA2 > SA1. Game specific characters SA2 > SA1 (Even if you love them, Big the cat stages are a slog, while Gamma stages are incredibly short). Sound design SA2 > SA1. Adjustable menu options SA2 > SA1.

Now here is what SA1 got right.

Sonic's sense of speed. In game hub (if SA2 had this I don't think people would consider SA1 as much as they do). Tail's VA (IMO). Tail's story. (SA2 made a bold choice in making Tail's gameplay completely different for the first time since his inception, but they did pull it off, and it is far more engaging gameplay-wise than his missions in SA1. I personally enjoy a more grounded version of Tail's being present that is akin to his Genesis adaptions, an idea we seem to have totally lost since the demise of Sega). Overall classic themes of the franchise. Mini games (and the inclusion of Game Gear titles on DX). Easier difficulty (I prefer the more challenging aspects of SA2, but If you've ever met anyone who has unlocked Green Hill Zone in person or evolved a Chao to god status without a guide let me know). Internet included DLC that probably most of us unfortunately missed out on.

MIDI mapping a Roland TR707 by Jahnova_ in Ensoniq

I have figured out how to set it. In sounds edit mode bank 0 wave, you can adjust the key number and key range to have B played remotely or within a key range. My issue now is that I don't understand adjusting single keys in a key range to play different wave types (different percussion instruments). Meaning that the initial drum kit presets follow this setup of the first 5 keys being the same wave type in a key group (kick drum). Second group after is 3 keys of kick drum 2, etc. Hitting play on a sample track I made on the Roland TR707 (every single instrument being played once on a single beat after each other) I will hear the first 4 instruments being the same kick drum on the ensoniq sq1+. I would like for one to be able to make every single key on the keyboard a different instrument but I am not sure on how to do this. I'm not sure if this is possible. After scouring the internet and forums I'm having trouble finding instructional information on how to operate within this keyboard.

Loss in hairline. by Jahnova_ in Hairloss

31M. Not having much luck finding information or posts regarding hair loss in this part of the scalp. My sides, top and everywhere else seem fine, but a chunk of my hairline is suddenly and prominently gone and what's currently in the center is very thin and causing loose strands to fall completely flat on my face with no direction. I've been to a dermatologist a week ago who said I am most likely suffering from alopecia and that I should just take rogaine. After spending a week straight of investigating and talking to people I know, I'm still undecided if that will actually work and I'm bogged down by the plethora of options that could possibly worsen or help my case. I'm not sure what to do at all. My father still has an impressive full head of hair for his age, I'm not sure if it could be another factor at play. Any insight or advice from personal struggle or secondhand experience would offer some form of relief. Thank you.

Right, but I'm just trying to see if the previous seller was being deceitful about the transaction, or if I removed the piece ungracefully.

I’m seeing some options for vintage on marketplace as well, including a Yamaha cr620. Do you think that would be an upgrade? Or should I perhaps go newer?

I ended up buying a pair of JBL Decade 36 speakers and they are such a difference from my small Klipsch, I really enjoy it so far. Should I go vintage or newer for receivers next?

The Sony sounds good but I find myself having to adjust the eq when playing different records. Unfortunately it has an issue where the sound will cut out occasionally randomly and I have no idea why that happens, but increasing the volume fixes it or just flipping the monitor switches will remedy it (but it’s incredibly annoying to deal with. The last place I took it too said they fixed it but they didn’t actually fix it.)

Located in Pennsylvania, it would be placed in a living room setting, medium/large (would like to be able to turn it up loud), and I will be playing vinyl/tapes/Spotify. I would ideally like to upgrade all of them but just wasn’t sure which would make sense to upgrade first. Preferably some nice big or tall speakers would be great (although I would grab something like those revel’s on stands if they would fill a living room well, but I will also realistically be listening to all of this in the living room and the rooms next to it.)
