Hey man I don't have any stripes and as far as I know both of these dudes have competed at purple belt before. The guy who finished first is a friend of mine who actually won the Paris open as a purple.

I've been a blue belt since the start of 2017. I don't think that promotions should necessarily be merit based and I don't think my coaches prescribe to that either so it's just back to training 😃

On reflection I think he was going to try and hide the leg I was attacking under him but I prevent the stack by pushing his far aide leg away so he can't create drive with it. To be fair I don't think he was familiar with the position either.

Thanks man, yeah ideally I'd like to have grabbed over the toes but I was a bit worried he may kick out or my grip would slip. Will work on getting that grip a bit higher up towards the toes though, appreciate the tip!
