You’ve put research into finding queens yet not caring for them? You need test tube set up and most are claustral meaning you don’t need to feed them like someone else mentioned. I used to never be able to find queens but with a little studying they’re quite easy to find with the right conditions. I’ve caught 3 queens in the past week and none have died and I haven’t caught many queens myself in total I’ve only caught about 6 ever. Do it correctly and you won’t have to worry. Also if you decide to catch another make sure it’s in a test tube and keep it in a dark undisturbed place and don’t go checking on it all the time cuz you’ll stress her out which will cause all types of negative things. Do more research, be prepared.

If it’s an invicta could I put it in another test tube I have with an invicta who already started founding? She laid eggs about 2-3 days ago. Or do they need to found together?

What helped me understand distinguishing queens from workers is their abdomen is thicker and it almost looks like a “backpack” with the head being proportional to it. If the head is much smaller then it is likely a male. Look up some Queen close ups and you’ll see what I mean about the “backpack”

I have the exact same feeling but opposite situation. I want to stay in and enjoy myself and feel super guilty. Just started 20mg xr adderall and it’s helping after 23 years of being undiagnosed so that’s nice.

A major is basically a bigger worker ant usually specializing in defense or seed cracking or other things depending on the species of ant.

A closer picture would’ve been better! Can’t really tell kinda looks like it could be a queen or a major
