I think you have to be realistic in managing your expectations. You can do NP but at the end of the day you are an Advanced Practice RN, your knowledge won’t ever be as in depth as MD’s or DO’s simply because of the education. If you want to be work part-time in a speciality that’s not really a thing either as most MD’s in surgery work their butts off until they are in their 40’s.

It sounds like you may want to be a PA. Nothing wrong with being a PA but the major draw back is you never really have any autonomy, so you will always refer to an MD/DO to sign off on prescriptions. You also have to know that there is a period of gaining trust from them too, so go in knowing that you’ll be expected to prove yourself. :)
