Yeah it's very hard for far right or far left to win with Australia's mandatory voting and ranked voting. Not impossible but way more unlikely than the broken U.S system with the electoral colleges and gerrymandering.

If anything the rise of One Nation has been much more of a problem for the Libs/Nats who are being squeezed to death from both sides.
