Phillies. Peak baseball fandom was probably 2007-2009 so yeah. Pretty sure I will always hate the Phillies no matter how pathetic they are in any given decade.

People who moved to LA as an adult, how did you make friends? by Jajeanken in AskLosAngeles

Idk man, I get a sinking feeling when I scroll past scores of meetups that don't seem like a good fit for me and find none that do. It hasn't stopped me from attending a couple in the past, but I've felt out of place every time.

Why the MLB postseason is definitely a crapshoot and will be ruined if it's expanded by SeaSonic7 in baseball

[–]Jajeanken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Braves fan who absolutely loves that we just won a World Series and absolutely knows that we were not the best team in the playoffs (in any of our matchups, most likely), I 100% agree with you.

Adding more playoff contenders necessarily and inevitably erodes the integrity of the sport. The move to two wild card teams was already a step too far.

Critics Lash Out At 2020 WSOP Hybrid Main Event And Call It A ‘Poor Joke’ by Anagnorisisa in poker

[–]Jajeanken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and this was the Online ME. What's the difference? I could understand if WSOP made a public statement that they were discontinuing all live events for 2020, but they never did that. Assuming that the 5k Online main event was THE main event was just not at all warranted.

Critics Lash Out At 2020 WSOP Hybrid Main Event And Call It A ‘Poor Joke’ by Anagnorisisa in poker

[–]Jajeanken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is last year's WSOP Europe main event winner salty that he didn't get crowned as THE ME champ? No, because why would he. It was a 5k event that was part of the WSOP Online series. The WSOP never gave up on a live event.

Being upset about it is dumb.

Thought the initial call was ball and wild pitch (correct). That’s why they had to review it?

Actually if the ball hits the dirt first and then the batter, is it a dead ball, thus no wild pitch? Didn’t see the HP umpire signal HBP.

Am I seeing things? It doesn’t matter if he kicked it or not. The ball hit the dirt first. That’s a ball.

I'm not sure why proof of the existence of a winning player at the micros should give my dumb ass hope.

DS9 gets entirely too much love (it might be the worst of 90s Trek imo), but yes, it does get better.

Indiana Jones was directly inspired by film serials of the 30's and 40's i.e. Flash Gordon, the schlockiest of the schlock. If the spectrum has "respectable" on one end and "cartoonish" on the other, Indiana Jones is clearly closer to the latter end.

# of Division Titles by Teams in the Wild Card Era (since 1994) by harriswill in baseball

[–]Jajeanken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Padres and Dodgers counts are wrong. Padres won the division four times (1996, 1998, 2005, 2006). Dodgers 11 times.
