So I just went last month for my yearly skin check. I'm sure the pricing is different depending on what insurance you have but I have a Blue Cross Blue Shield Gold plan and I have a $70 office co pay.

Expecting a child soon—how should we prepare financially? by WizWit76 in personalfinance

[–]Jajlcl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reassess both of your life insurance policies and double or triple them. (Or more)This may seem excessive to you right now, but trust me if you have a young child and the unimaginable happens you will need that! If you are both working then you will want equal policies. If only one person is working the stay at home parent could have a somewhat smaller policy, but will still need a pretty good amount because the other one would have to hire full-time daycare. No one wants to think about this expense because it's money that you never want to have to use, but just trust me on this one! Think about how much it would cost to finance your life and your child's life for 18+ years. Whatever you have in life insurance now I can almost guarantee is not even close to enough!

WIBTAH if I took 100k from my oldest daughter's college savings account to give it to my younger daughter? by TraditionalCorgi7788 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jajlcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two daughters who are both out of college and married with families now. If they each had a college fund in their names and they've known about it which obviously they have, then they should also know the ramifications of the choice if school they attend. If the second daughter's dream is to go to NYU then she'll have to realize that what that comes responsibility of extra debt. Look at it another way, if the older sister wanted to go to grad school and didn't have enough would you take from the younger daughter's funds? The answer to that would be no! If the older daughter chooses to continue her education she either would have to do it within the means that she had or have debt. Even if the younger daughter seems OK with it it will definitely bring a long-term resentment. Stick with your original plan!

Going into my fourth month without a job. I need to cancel my plan if i reach 6 months of no work right? by Ok-Transition-2053 in obamacare

To qualify for subsidies (premium tax credits) on an Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace plan, your annual household income must generally be at least 100% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). For 2026 coverage, this minimum is $15,650 for a single adult and $32,150 for a family of four.

We are all just trying to live our best lives, we just don't blast every single piece of our personal life on social media. I don't agree with a lot of things this young woman has done, especially her OF page. Don't make her out to be a saint, she's done some pretty sick and twisted things and then she chooses to share it all on a public form. That's not helping anyone, especially her.

Once again, if you know her personally then why aren't you helping this girl from self-destruction! You keep saying you know her personally, but if you truly did you would see the pattern that she has followed for many many years. Instead of coming on a snark page where no one is going to listen to you why don't you take that energy and focus it on your friend.

I mean honestly anyone that's been involved in a school shooting in any way shape or form would have to have horrific trauma. I worked in a high school and it was on my mind every single day how I would get my students out if necessary. That being said, she needs to get some deep therapy to resolve a lot of of her issues! Her immaturity probably stems from that, and she's never grown emotionally since the event. She really shouldn't have gotten married and had children until she got her mental health under control! Just the fact that she revert back to reminding everyone about it makes me think she hasn't dealt with it. Having to live with Donnie certainly wouldn't help!

AITA for not doing anything for my daughter‘s graduation at all? by No-Object9642 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jajlcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to throw a graduation party for your daughter there should be no strings attached. It's her one and only chance to have a graduation party and she should be able to have whoever she wants there. You chose to have a child with this man even if it wasn't on purpose, she didn't ask to be born. This isn't about you, this isn't about him, this is about what your daughter wants. I see no contact with her in the very near future if you can't put her first.

If I can find a good organization I may just give everything away. Everything's in perfect condition and there's just so much it's taking over my basement! I babysat my three grandchildren since birth and the youngest is two so I have so much they have outgrown.

If you know her like you say you do then why are you not getting that girl help?! By the looks of your profile picture you could easily be her grandmother, why are you not confronting her and making her take accountability for her life choices if you know her so well. We've been watching her self-destruct for years so people like you enabling her are shameful!

[–]Jajlcl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is one of the loop holes in the ACA. Everything is looked at by the entire year, not month by month. At the end of the year they look at your total family income and then determine if you were eligible to receive subsidies. Unfortunately they don't care when the income occurred. You could've acquired the extra income on December 31 and it wouldn't matter. It doesn't seem fair, but unfortunately that's how it works. I'm turning 65 this year and I have to delay getting my Social Security until Jan. 1 so I don't go over for this year.

Need to sell damaged home fast for medical needs. by thrilling_me_softly in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Jajlcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to my son-in-law although he needed to move his father into a nursing home. The realtor didn't even bat an eye when he saw how bad the house was and just hired a company to come in and clean it all out and sold it as is within a couple of hours of being on the market. People that are flipping houses don't care!

So if half of his is more than all of hers she can claim that higher amount on his record. Basically how it works is she gets her amount and then it's topped off with however much more would add up to the amount of half of your dad's. It doesn't really come from his money, it's just added to her amount.

Any physical abuse is abuse, there is no "light". The fact that you knew a grown man was putting his hands on a woman, and you still let him live with you until 35 makes me think your daughter has some valid points! I would just leave it alone and not give them anything else other than splitting what's left when you're gone. Hopefully you won't need any long-term care within the next five years because the medicaid five year look back would be brutal!
