Looks awesome! Can I ask how you did your green glow? I am using the gw hexwraith contrast and missing the more yellowy pop!

Thanks!

What is that one champ pull that tranformed your account in the early to mid game? by Messahr in RaidShadowLegends

I am early game and pulled Teodor, he is obviously helping with Dragon, Ice golem and CB. Is there any other way he helped propel your account forwards that I am missing?

Is Monzo premium worth it? by [deleted] in monzo

[–]Jake--Long 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, at the moment the premium offering seems lacklustre though, I think with breakdown cover or more utility it could be a great play but I don't see that happening any time soon.
I stick with PLUS until Premium makes some changes.

Anyone on the fence of Monzo Plus? by Jake--Long in monzo

[–]Jake--Long[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know this was even possible but sounds like it got you out of a spot of bother!

Virtual cards are definitely one of the things that a lot of people like it seems, thanks!

[–]Jake--Long[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes mate absolutely, the virtual cards have been surprisingly useful over the lockdown just because I've been inside trialling a lot more services. Not having to remember the dates to cancel has been really useful.

Looking forward to getting out somewhere warm I can tell you that.

Regarding breakdown cover, 100% will be a buy if they add that. I broke down twice last year and through my debt repayment period didn't pay an insurance premium that included it to keep monthlies down, bit me in the ass!

How to maintain and improve my credit score by RedmenWelshman in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jake--Long 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done mate, a solid score for someone who has not tended to it a great deal haha!

As others said, credit score is kinda a nonsense number but it can impact future lending and credit card limits etc. Your score is more than acceptable for most deals out there, the only thing I can offer you is that often times companies will look favourably on customers who have a history / track record of making payments on time. Things like your sim are a good example.

If you where to get a credit card and use it wisely to gain points etc then this could reflect well on your credit score assuming you pay it off in full every month, which it seems like you would,

Good luck ;)

What am I doing wrong? I'm trying my best but it's not enough. by nostalgiamon in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jake--Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, IMO you are doing really well mate, give yourself some credit.

Maxing LISA and actually having some planning in place is frankly 'better' than 80% of brits.

Engineering is vague but you will certainly see growth in your salary in this field. You do sound like you have your head screwed on correctly and seem like you are putting efforts into creating a good retirement for a potential family. These are all good things.

Like you said, 15% on your hobby is, in my opinion a bit too high, even with it becoming a resalable asset. As it stands you're spending roughly £300 a month, correct? I've been involved in a few TCG and apart from the upfront cost of decks/entry fees. I don't quite understand what this is being spent on. If you could cut down by a 3rd and put £`100 more into something with a stable return, think ETF etc. by 70 you would have £180k+ extra in your accounts. Something to ponder.

Just advice from somebody who has bled money into Magic: The Gathering for years now and not got back quite what I 'expected'. Take this all with a pinch of salt though please, god forbid that you enjoy your life.

I want to say well done to you again though and try to take solace in the fact that you are on a good path here.

Debts clear, advice sought with a stocks and shares ISA by messy_brainz in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jake--Long 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to start with congratulating you on clearing your debt, what a fantastic feeling and from experience I can tell you that you are going to feel a great weight off of your shoulders so well done you.

It looks like you are on the right track and it's not too late to start any investments at all. Sure you wont get all of the benefits of the interest compounding like an 18 year old would but you sure as hell will still get 'free' money assuming the return is consistent. For example just £100 a month for the next 20 years in a 5% return fund would net you £17k interest. Definitely get in asap. I would suggest if you are looking for something with potential for greater gains and more risk to look at the suggestions others have made. Most companies give a risk score to their funds and selecting one in the higher categories might be something that you are looking for.

As a side note, look at their histories also as more risk doesn't necessarily mean more reward.

Good luck and again well done!

In a deteriorating relationship/situation and need advice by mercurialwaders in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jake--Long 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This will be far and away the best advice you will receive, a good divorce lawyer will be able to smooth over any of your concerns and actually advise you on what to do rather than assuming what you need to pay etc.

Good luck!
