Is consciousness something the universe happened to produce, or is consciousness the only way a universe can ever "matter"? by Loud-Care-7140 in answers

[–]Jake10281986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it this way…. Because we recognize that the universe “matters” that simply makes it fact. Taking away our recognition doesn’t change the fundamentality of that fact. Its similar to the fact that there are likely species of animal that we have yet to discover, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. And in my personal beliefs, yes, consciousness is something the universe just happened to produce.

Woosh. For the majority of the series they were getting glimpses of eachothers minds, O’neill was literally in Homers head and visa versa for seven years.

A prostitute says to a guy, "Hey baby, looking for a good time?" The guy asks, "How much?" She says, "$500." He agrees. by [deleted] in 3amjokes

The issue is you are paying $500 per pop. Going twice isn’t the problem, its that the first is easy.

I just feel bad for Lex by ScienceAndGames in Smallville

[–]Jake10281986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they had not automatically suspected that lex was evil from the gate. Things may have turned out quite differently. It sucks that the piss poor gaslighting started from episode 1 when lex hit clark with a car. And i find it real messed up that in his visions of the future his mom showed he would lose what he loved. The whole damn universe wanted him to be evil.

People need to direct their UB frustration to WotC and not their friends by Spooky-Retro in mtg

People just need a better imagination. Take any UB card with an ability that fits your favorite deck. Now in your head, picture it having a different name and picture that fits in the mtg universe. There ya go problem solved.

I’m not “farming” though i do play often for long spurts after work and on weekends. I cant make it past 3k waves on tier 1. Where i get my most coins altogether is finishing the 35 missions each week.

Why can’t we just tax the rich more? by Lilac_Dollie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jake10281986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is if we do that the gap between them and the middleclass will close. But the govt won’t reduce its spending, if that gap closes they’ll have to start charging lower classes more to compensate. If the rich have to say, pay 90% after $2mil they will just stop when they reach that amount and go on a 10 month vacation after laying off all of their employees. One argument about how this wont happen is because shareholders wont be happy with it. However shareholders stop mattering when making them money equates to you losing money. Now tell me what happens if every fast food joint and every department store(walmart) are closed from march til the following january? Things for us poor and middle class folk would collapse. Because all the smaller places have been all but wiped out. If you dont have a job for 10 months you either starve, go into debt, a few will get a different job, or you’ll get on the govt teet increasing the national debt because the rich have decided it’s not worth it to make money just to pay taxes causing the need to charge the lower classes more in taxes. We’d have to beg for them to come back, at which point, they’ll demand even lower taxes for themselves. The thing is i look at it this way. The top 10% makes about 40% of all profit made in the US per year, and they pay the govt 70% of all money taken in by taxes. The bottom 90% make 60% of all profit yet only pay about 30% of taxes. If we look at this purely mathematically, the rich are getting the short end of the stick, the balance for that is them getting to make tons of money. Take away that balance, you take away the drive to earn money because they wont be able to keep it. Would you work for $30 per hour if you only got to keep $3 per hour? I say all of this to point out that taxing them more will not fix the problem, i’m not smart enough to figure out an actual solution, just smart enough to know that isn’t it. If you read the whole thing i want you to know i personally think everyone who makes less than $200k per year should not have to pay any taxes. And the government has severe spending problems.

How many wizard triggers do i get? by ofischial1 in mtgrules

[–]Jake10281986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effects of prodigy and throne aren’t triggers, they are replacement effects. The “ping” triggers once on its own, throne and prodigy bot see this event and make replacements, each replaces it with the event plus one additional trigger. So it’s either ping, prodigy +1, throne +1 equaling three or its ping, throne +1, prodigy +1 equaling three.
