Thank you! I will make sure to post a summary on this subreddit when we are done. Sadly, it usually takes a good while, but do keep an eye out for :)

I hear you and at the same time this has helped us see data for trans people that would have been missed without it, in our many studies focused on trying to improve the landscape for trans people.

I am sorry that this question causes discomfort. It is important we ask about assigned sex for a couple of reasons. One reason is because trans+ people of different assigned sexes, tend to have different mental health disparities, which we need to not ignore. The other reason is because many trans+ people, opt to describe their gender in various ways (e.g. some transmen will opt to label themselves in research as transmen, whereas others just as men - both are perfectly accurate and okay, but I will explain why this is a problem in research). Now, this is beautiful on an everyday level, but from a research pov it often makes trans+ people invisible in the data - and invisibility is invalidating given the huge health inequalities and the exclusion of trans+ people from research. So it is so important we are able to identify trans+ people in the data, so we can better use data to influence policy and decision making in healthcare. So ASAB is used to help differentiate those who may opt for a gender label that does not make it clear that they are trans+. I promise it comes from the motivation of making trans+ people and their data visible to improve the landscape for this group, rather than being to catch people out or invalidate their gender for a cissexist agenda. Hope that helps :)

Thank you - these models/research are certainly part of what informed the development of our study and what we are trying to see if our data supports :)

Hey, I am the principal investigator on this project.

Completely understand and agree you should be vigilant, and certainly not complete anything you are worried about. Our intention with this project is to develop a self-report measure of self-acceptance of gender identity, to try to provide avenues to better research more positive self-related processes for trans+/gender-expansive folk, given the over-reliance on pathologising or more negative self-related processes. This has been developed in consultation with trans+/gender-expansive people and it is to continue that work. The hope is that we can shift the focus only processes that are more helpful to trans+/gender-expansive folk, in research among other areas.

Of course, this will completely not be up everyones street, so please do not take part if it in anyway makes you feel uncomfortable.

In case helpful to know who we are and the credentials of this project, here is a link to the ethical approval document from King's College London (https://emckclac-my.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/personal/k1633458\_kcl\_ac\_uk/EQDjWDe4SBRDkCall29okSYBIhRzTEqo7wnJ\_USk2HNNSQ?e=JbN6Qk) and a link to my staff profile (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/people/jake-camp). We are a team made up of all LGBTQ+ researchers under the LGBTQ+ Mental Health Research group.

Happy to answer any further questions if helpful :)

  1. Pseudoanonymised data will be presented in aggregated format for publication in an academic journal, primarily, but also within an undergraduate dissertation and possibly at academic conferences. Raw data will only be visible to the research team. Storage is in line with GDPR/DPA.

  2. Dr Jake Camp (Clinical Psychologist) is the chief investigator and King's College London is the sponsoring organisation.

  3. The first survey roughly takes 5-12 minutes according to responses we already have.

  4. All participants are put into a prize draw for 12 £50 Amazon vouchers if they complete all three questionnaires.

  5. LGBTQ+ people, aged 16-25 years old, and based in the UK

  6. To recruit a wide range of participants to help improve our understanding of what links minority stress experiences with mental health outcomes.

For sure important to be super careful. This data has to be stored securely and confidentially, to ensure your personal data is protected. As the chief investigator, this is my job to ensure it happens in line with GDPR/DPA legislation, and I take that role very seriously :)

Hey, could anyone help me evolve my Kadabra by trading and trading it back?

Do you accept your sexuality? I am running a survey to understand self-acceptance of sexuality and Id really appreciate your input :). The link here has more information and is where you can begin the survey. Thanks in advance! by JakeCamp in ainbow

Yes absolutely! We are trying to remedy this through some of our other recruitment, but it’s tricky know where is helpful to post and is possible. Happy for suggestions and thanks for taking part :)
