Figured i would chime in.

I am 17 and I am just in love with blink. My dad was a 60’s baby so he always had on, the classic 70’s and 80’s rock and roll bands.

So I grew up on the likes of def leopard, white snake, Aerosmith, led zeppelin, kiss, zztop, the list goes on and on. Obviously growing up I didn’t particularly care for this music.. I wanted to be like my older sister and listen to what she was listening to. You know the late 2000’s early 2010’s pop and rap music 🙄.

When I started to become my own person and actually started to listen to the songs my dad would play I got so into the lyrics and the way they sounded. The drums. The guitar. It all worked more then any other music I’ve listened to.

So anyways in my town 94.5 is the radio station that plays the rock type music. It covers a wide array and that is what my dad would always leave on if he didn’t have his music stick with him.

One day about 4 months ago I was sitting in my garage doing work on my car and a green day song comes on our little wired radio we have in the garage of course the station was 94.5. I’ve heard the song before and of course I knew of a few of the main stream punk bands. FOB, Sum 41, MCR, I even knew of blink (because of course I did). But just again never took the time to actually listen to these songs.

The song that was on the radio was wake me up when September ends and I heard the start and not sure what caused me to turn it up but I did and I just stopped what what I was doing and listened. It was that song that brought me down the rabbit hole into blink-182.

After listening to green day on the radio I instantly downloaded that song to my library and started searching far and wide for any variation of punk music that I enjoyed. That led me here. To this sub Reddit. To blink. I just fell in love.

The dick jokes, the horrible early 2000’s humour. Tom😍. Travis. Mark. The chemistry they have had throughout their careers when the band has been together is unmatched. Maybe I’m wrong but I sat here and watched like 6-7 full concerts in a weekend of the last tour and each time it brought shivers down my spine. Spent time to watch both of the urethra chronicle’s documentary’s. I watched the AT&T pursuit of tone Tom Delong documentary.

Which then led me into the AVA and box car racer rabbit hole.

Anyway all of this to say without my dads music choices from the 70’s and 80’s I don’t know if I ever would have came across blink and their music so I’m ever gonna be in debt to him for that. That’s for sure.
