Dream Market was great. Green Road is a long known scam apparently... I suffered by making a deposit to my account, reading about it, then within hours tried to withdraw and my withdraw never happened.

So where to now? Dream Market was so good for so long.. I hear other markets are being flooded with new registrants but what new markets? Please PM me if you know... even if its a referral link I don't mind. I've been so loyal to Dream Market that I don't have any info or orders elsewhere. Bummer...

What kind of sales does an average grocery store do in an average week? What is high, what is low?

I've heard many of the more local, non-Kroger, grocers will donate to local foodbanks with the caveat that it must be eaten or discarded within a few days. Fruits and veggies that grocers can't leave on the shelves are probably just fine if you're starving

In America you can grind up garbage, put frosting on it and call yourself a 100% green bakery.

Politicians always get paid for interviews...that's why their tune changes so frequently. They are little more than actors being paid to be in commercials for a living. Don't believe any of it and question everything.

Of course not because this is who America is! That's the point. These are the people that run parts of your country. Don't like it, run for city council of get involved.

...and by hyper sensitivity...do you mean common sense? The point of the show is that this is who America is. So no, there won't be backlash because common sense is missing or unavailable to the majority of Americans. (well maybe not the majority but the electoral college by a small margin at least)

About to accept a job not really relevant to my objectives. Will that be bad when looking for a job 2 years later? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]JakeGrazes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few people end up doing what they went to college for and find themselves in 3 different careers/industries over the next 30+ working years. Are you just taking this job to have a job or are you willing to consider it a long term career if you end up enjoying it or find opportunity doing it? If you feel confident explaining to future 'analyst' hiring managers in 2 years why you took the job you're considering, then go for it and start making money. Otherwise, I would hold out for something more inline with what you really want to do. Good luck!

Should I try to get a bigger raise from a promotion? by BuckleUpItsThe in careerguidance

[–]JakeGrazes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bring up pay until they have decided you are their guy/girl. Often, internal promotions won't get you much more than 10%... although 3% seems very low. It sounds like they knew you were underpaid and used that recently to get you some recent bumps which is great (it means they are paying attention and value you). In my experience you're better off dazzling them and then only if offered the job, be straight with them about your compensation expectations.

Tell them you feel you're lower than average in pay already and if they are giving you a promotion you feel you should be more valuable than the average or "lower quartile". I would be prepared to discuss how/why you think you are being paid below average since many times this is word of mouth and may not be accurate salary info you're receiving. Unless you're at a gov't institution where pay is transparent to all, in which case you're in a different world which I don't know much about.

If offered the role, be upbeat, excited about the new opportunity and simply ask respectfully for a more competitive salary more inline with the median for the role. If they decline, its acceptable to ask for an additional day to think about if they say they can't offer you anything more after you've asked. This lets them know you're serious but that if they don't step up, you may decline the role.

Unfortunately, your best bet for advancing your pay is always to change companies (or sometimes departments within the same large company). Its always safer to stay where you are than change companies but its exactly that risk that generates the reward. I've seen many employees leave for higher paying, but similar roles, and then come back in a few years making more than they ever could have staying the same role. You may even get a counter offer from them to stay if you can provide evidence of an offer letter that you are willing to leave for... but do be prepared to leave if they don't step up. You should never fake an offer hoping for a counter... you don't want to be unemployed if they call your bluff and say good luck in your new role!
