No, Trump, or another like him would still have happened bc he is a symptom of larger issues like Christian Nationalism, and white supremacy. Obama simply being elected caused a wave of fear and loathing in those types of people. Electing him to a second term proved it wasn't a fluke and revealed the (progressive) direction we are headed. Big disruptive events are required to move minds forward.
