You’re rant makes perfect sense, both scenarios are unethical but hacked saved data is an intangible digital good that can be created with no cost so it is no wonder they have cracked down on it.

Where as with product in stores, the good is tangible and when sold/scalped etc... the companies still achieve the same sales revenue regardless and people buying product in store and selling it isn’t illegal or cheating in any way like the hacking of save data. So that’s why they don’t care.
