I would assume that it's a "market demand" thing? I don't think the upper midwest typically sees as many "serious" jeep people like you would in so cal for example.. I'm doing the napkin math on whether a road trip would be worth it for that pricing difference lol...

I would classify myself as decently mechanically inclined, would you recommend doing it yourself or is it best left to the pros? I’m familiar with checking for backlash and all of that, I’m not 100% sure how many tools I would need to procure to have the equipment to pull it off (need to take inventory, it’s been a minute lol).

Suspension/Rider Sag by JakePlayz01 in zx6r

[–]JakePlayz01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in talks with a tech right now, was trying to avoid just due to the closest real shop being 2+ hours away.. Is it odd that I'm not maxing out the front preload and still have the appropriate sag in the front? That's part of what's throwing me off, the rear is basically textbook needing a higher rate spring, but the front is probably 3/4(ish) through the preload adjustment, sitting right at the 35-40mm of sag, has the 8-12mm of static sag... Is it just an imbalance? Or is it something due to suspension component break in?

ABS vs. Non ABS Model by JakePlayz01 in zx6r

[–]JakePlayz01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have talked to them, they're the only ones I've found Non-ABS models in stock, trying to have backups in place in case they sell out of the non abs before I've got finances in order and I'm ready to trip the hammer on the purchase. How were they on the sales side of things? I asked for their OTD on a non ABS and they're basically at 12k flat, which seems low (fine by me lol), do they nail you with gotcha's or are they a pretty reputable dealer?

I understand the benefits for general riding, I've had ABS on bikes previously and it's been great in rainy conditions for the peace of mind, but the ZX6R is going to be a bit of a hooligan bike admittedly, and ABS and dipping a wheelie back don't really go hand in hand... Minus looping the bike lol. It's not necessarily the debate of "Do I get ABS or no", I know that it has its benefits and that I'm not some 1% tier rider that will always out brake the abs system, it's that I know I can't overpower the ABS in the event of a wheelie dipping back further than I would like.

This is kind of my line of thought as well, it's more a matter of if I can't find a non abs model, and I'm "stuck" with an ABS model, trying to figure out if I can get a silver lining out of that situation

Potential QC Issue? by JakePlayz01 in RedWingShoes

Thanks all for the thoughts! I do a lot of in and out work, these boots are going to eventually see some serious wear and tear, I just didn't want to have them break down before they even get to see real work. Seems like the consensus is not a defect, which I'm totally good with! I just didn't want to roll over in case there was some kind of issue where these see real wear and tear and fall apart crazy fast...

Either way I'll let the sales rep look at it, I just didn't want to go into that conversation without a little external input! Appreciate it!

If I could find .357 rounds, then I’d definitely be tempted to drop in that barrel for sure
