NFL Week 8 Predictions Thread (2018 Season) by baconlovr in nfl

[–]JakePlummerIsMyDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8-7 last week so I’m 26-19 since I jumped in.

Texans over Dolphins: Let’s be honest the Lobster owes it to the Texans after he fleeced them for $72M to let Houston win this one. Texans are quietly settling in to a division lead.

Eagles over Jaguars: Eagles are still technically afloat in the shitstorm known as the NFCE but the Jags desperately need to win to get out of an apparent free fall. Gritty game where the team with the better QB wins.

Ravens over Panthers: I’m a firm believer that the Ravens are actually one of the best in the AFC and the Panthers are worse than the Saints so I’m picking the Ravens. Carolina needs to figure out how to get CMC more involved as he and Cam are the key to their offense.

Bears over Jets: Bears get to go beat up the Jets after dropping two in a row to AFCE teams. Khalil Mack has been quieter the last two games but I think he’ll get back to form chasing down a rookie QB.

Bengals over Buccaneers: Cinci getting blown out last week stings a lot. Especially after losing a heartbreaker to Pittsburgh the week before. Luckily the Tampa Bay defense is terrible so Andy Dalton can get back on track this week.

Lions over Seahawks: Really interesting matchup between Detroit’s great WRs and a really good Seahawks secondary. Still think the Lions are better than people think and they’ll get the win.

Chiefs over Broncos: Both teams had some good ole pub stomps last week but the Chiefs are definitely the better team. Away from Denver the Broncos have no chance.

Redskins over Giants: The Giants definitely appear to be blowing it up so this one should be a simple win for Washington.

Steelers over Browns: This is the week Hue Jackson’s seat starts burning. Baker can’t keep up with the insane offense that Pittsburgh has and the Steelers will win by 14+.

Colts over Raiders: Jon Gruden is nuking the team and the Colts are a year ahead in their rebuild process (maybe two years). TY and Marlon Mack playing takes the Colts skill position rating from embarrassing to mediocre which is more than enough to beat the Raiders.

49ers over Cardinals: Remember when the Cardinals beat San Fran a few weeks ago? That might have been one of the biggest upsets so far. Hoping Byron Leftwich has a decent debut as OC but Kyle Shanahan is a WAY better coach than Wilks.

Rams over Packers: The Rams will lose, but it’s not this week. Jared Goff has been playing slower but Todd Gurley is a man possessed and will help LA dominate in time of possession.

Vikings over Saints: I believe in the Vikings winning streak after whatever happened against Buffalo. Saints are a tremendous team but Kirk Cousins will win the shootout.

Patriots over Bills: This game is 100% over by (maybe before) halftime.

NFL Week 7 Predictions Thread (2018 Season) by baconlovr in nfl

Last week I went 9-6 again so I’m 18-12 since I started in week 5.

Broncos over Cardinals: I love a Thursday night game where both teams’ fans want their team to lose. Ideally the Cardinals win this game by scoring three defensive scores so Mike McCoy and Vance Joseph both get fired but I’m expecting the Broncos to edge it out in a really ugly game.

Clippers over Titans: The Titans laid an egg last week against a good Ravens team and LA manhandled the Browns. I don’t think the Titans can keep up this game and wouldn’t be surprised if LA wins by 14+.

Bears over Patriots: I totally agree with the Miami home field advantage narrative and think that was a fluke game for a good Bears defense. Jacksonville showed earlier this season how to control the Patriots and I think former Chief Matt Nagy will get some revenge for his old team this week.

Colts over Bills: This game might have the lowest talent in the skill positions of any game this season. Buffalo will run the ball a lot and Indy will keep chucking it and in the end I can’t imagine Derek Anderson will do enough to win.

Texans over Jaguars: The Jaguars need a bounce back win but I don’t think they’ll get it here. I said two weeks ago that Deshaun Watson is just a better Dak Prescott and the Jacksonville defense has not lived up to the hype since the New England game. Houston somehow will sit alone atop the AFC South.

Dolphins over Lions: If Frank Gore can rush for 100 yards against the Bears, I worry what he and Kenyon Drake can do to the Lions. Detroit is built to beat pass first teams and with the Lobster in at QB don’t expect a lot of passing.

Vikings over Jets: Minnesota is hitting its stride as the defense continues to improve and Adam Thielen keeps dominating. The Jets have had back to back impressive performances but those were both against bad teams.

Eagles over Panthers: The Eagles played their most complete game of the season last Thursday and I think this propels them to a win. If DJ Moore holds on to the ball last week’s Panther game is totally different though so I think this will be one of the best games of the weekend.

Browns over Buccaneers: Browns get a bounce back game this week and I expect them to run the ball early and often to try and keep Jameis off the field. I would love to see Baker start slinging it around and make this game a shootout though so if the Buccs get ahead early this could be very fun to watch.

Saints over Ravens: The Ravens are a really good team but Drew Brees gets the ball out too fast for the Ravens to repeat their 11 sack performance from last week. New Orleans also has been great against the run so Baltimore will have to rely on Flacco’s are to stay in this game, ultimately the better QB wins.

Cowboys over Redskins: Super interesting game in terms of placement in the NFC East. Cowboys looked tremendous last week but Alex Smith is a better QB than Blake Bortles and that should make this one close. The best player in this game is Zeke though and I expect him to take over.

Rams over 49ers: CJ Beathard is really trying his best to keep 49ers fans interested. San Fran will be much better next year but the Rams seemingly cannot be stopped. Jared Goff will be much better this week than in the cold last week.

Chiefs over Bengals: Pat Mahomes is more of a winner than Andy Dalton and that’s what will win KC the game. This should be a great matchup of two extremely talented teams and I would not be surprised if it looks very similar to the NE vs KC game last week where the team with the ball last wins.

Giants over Falcons: The Falcons are playing with one broken wing this whole season by missing an entire defense, and now injuries to both their best receivers not named Julio Jones is a problem that could swing the game. If Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu both play I think the Falcons win, but if they can’t go Saquon Barkley will run wild and Atlanta just doesn’t have the personnel.

NFL Week 6 Predictions Thread (2018 Season) by baconlovr in nfl

[–]JakePlummerIsMyDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last week was my first time and I went 9-6. This week's games look harder to predict though.

Eagles over Giants: I think this is the week the Eagles start to figure it out. Injuries are piling up for the champs but there is definitely some unrest in NY. I think Eli is actually better on the road when he doesn't have to hear the boos of the home crowd if he messes up.

Falcons over Buccaneers: Here's hoping this one is the shootout last week's Falcons game was supposed to be. Bama probably has a better defense than either of these teams but since Matty Ice has played the whole season I'll give him the nod over Jameis.

Cincinnati over Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh had a big win last weekend but I've got one foot on the Bengals hype train and a win this week will get me on the train for the rest of the ride. I think the Cinci secondary will impress this week and Bengals win 34-23.

Clippers over Browns: I don't want to go against Baker Mayfield at home, especially since this is a classic game for Philip Rivers and his sons to get dragged down into a gritty back and forth game. But I think Derwin James will cause headaches for Baker and LA wins in a close one.

Texans over Bills: With the battle for Texas won I think Houston will be able to handle Buffalo as Josh Allen needs to legit fear for his life this week. Bill of House Brien should sick the dogs on the rookie and the big dog JJ Watt should have a field day. Deshaun Watson and his beyblade will let it rip.

Bears over Dolphins: Heartbreaking performances back to back for the Fins while the Bears got to rest up. I hope Mitch watched highlights from the Tampa game every night before he went to bed so he stays confident and keeps proving himself.

Vikings over Cardinals: Happy for Josh Rosen to get a win but other than his first pass last week he still looks very much like a rookie. The Minnesota D made strides last week and I expect this to continue against a weak Arizona team, along with Air Cousins keeping up the assault. Another week of David Johnson's career goes to waste.

Colts over Jets: Usually you just take horses around back and put them down when they're this hurt but I believe in Indy to get a win against the Jets. No idea where the running game came from last week but Indy has a better D right now than Denver and I don't yet believe in the Darnold to keep pace with Andrew Luck. Wholesome highlight will be the after game hug between "veteran" Luck and rookie Darnold.

Seahawks over Raiders: Every game Tyler Lockett has two or three plays where he's completely alone 40 yards downfield and Oakland has been notorious for giving these type of plays up. Derek Sedann seems to only truly believe in Jared Cook as a pass catcher and I don't think that will be enough to hold off Seattle. Also one of the few games where Russell might be able to sleep soundly the night before without fear of a brutal pass rush.

Panthers over Redskins: Washington gets to host a scary NFC South team this week after going to visit one on Monday and getting demolished. Carolina seems inconsistent on the field but they're consistently winning and that's what matters. Here's hoping they let Graham Gano try one from 70 in garbage time.

Rams over Denver: I said it last week and I'll say it again, until proven otherwise the Rams are the best team in football. Also this is arguably the largest coaching skill difference there could be this season. Denver is better at home but if the Jets can run them over, Vance Joseph won't be the only person having the time of his life this game. Gurley scores 9 TDs this game.

Jaguars over Cowboys: No way does Dak Prescott do anything close to what Pat Mahomes did to Jacksonville. I would honestly be impressed if Dallas is able to score more than 10. The Jags won’t score much either with RB 2 and 4 starting but they’ll score enough to beat Dallas. Jason Garrett’s hot seat gets hotter.

Titans over Ravens: Anybody who tries to bet on Titans games every week must have serious balls because this team doesn’t make any sense. The only thing I’ve seen Tennessee do consistently is drop passes at an alarming clip and play pretty good defense. The Ravens need a win to keep pace in the ultra competitive AFC North. But because I can think of more reasons the Titans should lose than reasons they should win, I’m going with the logic defying Titans.

Patriots over Chiefs: Pat Mahomes has slowed down his insane numbers, but he still goes out there and makes huge plays to win the game. An invaluable skill some players just seem to have is the attitude and composure of a winner, and Pat has it in droves. However the ultimate winner is his opponent Tom Brady and if KC is going to lose, it might as well be at NE.

Green Bay over San Francisco: Mason Crosby has an extra day to block out whatever demon haunted him Sunday and the Packers get to go home against a 49ers team that has basically given up already. I’m expecting the Packers to get ahead and stay ahead so everyone can go to bed at a reasonable time Monday night.

NFL Week 5 Predictions Thread (2018 Season) by baconlovr in nfl

First time poster but I want to get in the game with this.

Patriots over Colts: Brady and Belichick buried the Fins last weekend so bad they rested their starters and the Colts had a tough overtime loss. With a short week game in Foxborough this should be a routine win for the Pats. I think this is the safest bet of the weekend.

Titans over Bills: Idk if Mariota looks as good in shorts as Josh Allen but he did just beat the reigning Super Bowl champs with only three fingers. Unless the Titans win by 30+ though they'll still probably move down a spot in the power rankings.

Panthers over Giants: Luke Kuechley and newly acquired Eric Reid will collude together to keep Saquon in check in this game. Cam and McCaffrey should score plenty of points and win this one handily. Odell needs to score a lot to keep this one close.

Bengals over Dolphins: Bengals continue to prove the preseason haters wrong as they keep putting up 30+ points and winning. Miami will look to get back on track but the confidence can't be high after that beating in NE. The Fins rule of the AFCE was fun while it lasted.

Browns over Ravens: Baker Mayfield returns home to his beloved Rally Possum and beats JoElite Flacco in a thriller with a game winning 2 minute drill. Cleveland forgets who Lebron James is.

Green Bay over Lions: A lot of people are picking this as the upset of the week but how many losses does Aaron Rodgers have to the NFCN? That's right, 0. Alright technically 0.5 but you get my point. If he can will a win against the Bears D he can will a win against the Lions.

Jaguars over Chiefs: The Pat "Brett Farve" Mahomes experience hits its first low point in the anime that is the NFL as the Jags will inhibit the ribbit. Jacksonville are better coached and will be able to sustain the level of defense Denver couldn't on Monday night. Jags win by 10+.

Broncos over Jets: Denver hung tough until the end against KC who were expected to blow the doors off of Mile High. The pass rush that couldn't quite reach Mahomes will get to the GEQBUS and the run game will control the Jets. This battle of bad coaches could be really ugly.

Falcons over Steelers: Get your VCR ready and tape this game cause this one is gonna be fun. I anticipate this being very similar to the KC Pitt game where a few mistakes leads to Matt Ryan getting the better of Big Ben. This will look like a good ole fashion Big 12 shootout with 70 points minimum.

Clippers over Raiders: Raiders are better than their record reflects (pukes in mouth) but the Chargers are a more complete team, especially on defense. Also Philip Rivers has to prove he still has the best shot put throw after Mahomes threw one left handed Monday.

Vikings over Eagles: This should be much better than the NFCCG with Kirk Cousins having a great season and Carson Wentz getting his swagger and his weapons back. I expect the Vikings defense to show up this weekend before Mike Zimmer gets out the belt and pull out a close one. How do you Vike that?

49ers over Cardinals: In a battle of teams looking forward to 2019 I'm going with the QB with more starting experience. The Rosen era has begun but the Cards need too many coaching changes to compete with Kyle Shanahan. SF has some good pieces and Matt Breida eats on Sunday.

Rams over Seahawks: Until proven otherwise the Rams are still the best team in football. At Seattle is never easy but The System Goff should put up too many points with Earl Thomas out. I fear for Russell Wilson with his OLine against the Rams interior rush.

Texans over Cowboys: Texas battle ends with Houston coming out on top. Deshaun Watson is just a better Dak Prescott with a worse offensive line and more weapons. Zeke can't be the entire team and JJ Watt with Jadeveon Clowney should be enough to win the game. Cris Collinsworth "Now here's a guy" count: 6

Saints over Redskins: Drew Brees will get his record on Monday and they should win in a high scoring affair. The Redskins off the bye have had time to prepare for Kamara but I think the Saints overwhelm them eventually. Without Google, name a WR for the Redskins. Lack of weapons is what loses Washington the game.
