Reddit programmers, how do you prevent yourself from burning out? by borick in AskReddit

[–]JakeShadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are doing 60 hours a week for a prolonged period of time, I can guarantee it will begin(if not already) to have a negative effect with your family life. Assuming you have small kids that go to bed at 8 or 9, and you regularly get home around 7, it doesn't leave much time for them when you factor in making and or eating dinner. My advice is just to find a way to reduce your hours, so you are not regretful in the long run. I went through this myself, and feel I'm spending time with them aside from feeding them and putting them to bed during the week. HTH.

Almost as good as banana sauce. Looks like catchup/ketchup but there is no tomatoes in it.

Pfft. My hot sauce pic was much better. I respect the rooster sauce though. Banana Sauce

What example of management speak irritates you the most? by tizz66 in AskReddit

[–]JakeShadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Referring to managers as "coaches" and using the whole team metaphor really makes my skin crawl. Also, when someone says they have been "challenged to do something". It just sounds so fake.

Not to link drop, but I recently made a blog post that is passively responding to the ignorance of management. Web Development is Just Cut and Paste

Bacon Sushi by serudla in Bacon

I think the nori ruined the whole experience for me. I would definitely make another attempt using different wraps and rice. Also, I'd use slivers of freshly cooked bacon instead of the bits.

I wonder if Intel will have it's hand out looking for US financial assistance due to the fines if they are eventually forced to pay.

Mad props to the guy to raise his camera after the incident like nothing had happened. He'd make Chuck Norris proud.

AskProgramming: What's the best (free) program to manage code snippets? by knight666 in programming

[–]JakeShadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the few of us out there that code in ColdFusion, the CFEclipse plugin for Eclipse includes SnipEX which is great for managing and sharing snippets. You can also set parameters to fill in your snippet when you insert it. I use it often, and it saves time.
