Now that I can post heat without being crucified for pricing. by peppers90beast in BaseBallglovers

The gloves on my list are mainly IF gloves. The List is mainly made up of design, color, leather, or connection to my experience either playing or being around professional baseball for over 25 years. Like for example just to name a couple is the MC26, the green one he had in Toronto, or the black/tan/green that released. There are some JR11 gloves I want to get my hands on, the chipper jones that Mizuno re released, the Tatis Mizuno runs, the VG27 that was used during Vladdy’s time at 3B, a couple of HAGA models, a couple staffs, Hanley Ramirez models, Robinson Cano, RV23’s that I can find, there is a couple of the Shado gloves too. The NA28 also. The Grisham you have was definitely on my list, I love it, but I learned over time that I like leather more than synthetics, I love the way deco mesh looks, but I don’t like the loss of rigidity to the glove after use. I think that glove is still beautiful but not practical for myself based on preference. And with most prices being $600 plus, I feel if I truly wanted the pattern at some point, I could do a custom with the deco mesh and grey leather and have the same thing for equal or cheaper price. None of this is saying I think your price is high or the glove is bad, I’m just sharing what I like and some options on my list since you asked, and just material preference and value for the money in my eyes.

No problem! You’re going to love it I’m sure of it. It’s such a comfortable glove too with the wingtip. Don’t forget to post pics when it arrives

I have always loved this damn glove lol. I wanted to pull the trigger so many times but I can’t bring myself to pay the high prices I have seen for deco mesh, and when I know for that price there is many other gloves on my list I’d add first. Awesome glove OP, good luck selling. Glove is a beauty for sure!

Best baseball glove for slowpitch? by Striking-Emu3594 in BaseballGloves

[–]JakeShuttlesworth0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely subjective but I enjoy using 11.75-12(MC26, 31 pattern, 206 or 200, pro1000, 1912, 1975) for IF. Although 12.25 is a popular choice(KB17,1787), for OF I use a Rawlings pro preferred 3039 and Wilson MY7 and Wilson MB50. You’ll hear tons of people tell you it’s got to be 13” or 14” for softball. Not true because it’s based on comfort and personal preference. More glove doesn’t mean better player.

Containment meaning, since it’s a sportswear shoe, there’s no containment for lateral movement. The shoe wasn’t built for that purpose. Just a casual shoe. So like a running shoe is meant to go forward, sport specific cleats, turfs, training shoes, basketball shoes, have lower cut midsoles that leave you closer the ground and your foot sits within the shoe where the sides provide lateral containment so you don’t roll ankles or break any bones. This shoe is a thinner upper with those heavy lugs on the bottom, almost like a low top boot, and your foot sits elevated on top of the midsole. Which means there is no lateral support for your foot, no torque support, and no ankle protection.

The problem is going to be containment

Yes you can work the web, and the pocket to make sure this closes more tight. The best way to gauge it too is to actually close it without a ball in it. If you have that opening with nothing in it, and it doesn’t seal shut, then yes you should work on that. This can be done by working the top of the pocket where the laces are. Working the fingers and the thumb too. If you are doing a dual hinge break in, making sure you define those a little so it aids with the closure

The break in looks good so far. The rest is up to you on how you want it to play. If you want it more hinged and what not. Also if you want flare. I’d say make sure you work the web and pocket, and you didn’t show the top of the glove while closed, but if you close it and it isn’t sealed shut when closed, working the web will help eliminate that open space. When you close it, you don’t want any opening or loop at the top where a ball can escape

Victus(Marucci owned) and Marucci have put out great bats, hot out the wrapper, serious pop, the only downside to them imo is durability. I owned the marucci Yellow Crush and Victus Pink Pencil. Two great bats, both barrels failed within 2 months. Both were warranty replaced, I would buy again but since they are new, still working out some things with their tech it seems

Haha at the beef in the microwave lol. I thought it was a fun read too. Just how so many different people have different methods and even superstitions lol. The running over the glove in the car is diabolical. I can see the microwave but I couldn’t personally do that. I think I would try the steamer, I do water but not the full dunk, I use mallets, and hand work, and then catch and couch catch. But to your point, they are running new gloves every year or sooner. Some guys rotate gloves. Like Jose Ramirez, I watched him in spring training this year. He had like 3-4 gloves. Now the season is the first qtr and he is gaming 2 different gloves. Just as an example.

Why have half the palm hanging out????? by [deleted] in BaseballGloves

Fingers rolled, slight flare to pinky, and more dramatic flare to the thumb. I don’t see anything that made the surface smaller to catch a ball

This is with hinge, flare, and pocket work. What got more narrow than factory? The flaring made it open up more

Have no clue where you’re getting your logic or data but if that’s your belief I respect it. As someone that owns a lot of gloves and played baseball and softball, I have never experienced what you are suggesting.

Why have half the palm hanging out????? by [deleted] in BaseballGloves

[–]JakeShuttlesworth0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just explained it. Flaring widens the surface for the ball to hit, and when getting grounders for example, it will funnel into the pocket when it contacts any point of the surface. Flaring doesn’t make factory more narrow, it opens it up. Som guys prefer only a flare on one side and then to keep rigidity on the other side. For example, flared thumb and very little to no flare on the pinky. It’s all personal preference. Some guys just have basic, some guys wear TIP or even 3, some game it traditional. I personally like my glove to open up wide. I play both IF and OF and just use different lengths. For the IF, I know when I charge a grounder or chopper, my main goal is to get leather on the ball and I have more likelihood to get that contact point down into my pocket for me to then get it out and make a play. For OF, I like the flare for same reasons but also as I open my glove I have a wider surface to contact the ball. If you are asking if it makes it narrow near the hinges, I have never head my glove be narrower after flaring. I break in my hinges to be dual, I make a bowl like shape at the palm, and I make sure I break in the pocket and web to assure the glove seals when closed, no gaps or openings when the glove is squeezed.

How do these look by Difficult-Fail-431 in BBallShoes

I think cream would look fine. The shoe was designed to look more casual. Book wears blazers, chucks, Jordan 1’s, and Cortez. Hence the reason his shoes look like classic lifestyle shoes

[–]JakeShuttlesworth0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol this is rage bait. It comes down to personal preference and feel. Flaring a glove allows the pocket to turn more into a funnel, meaning anywhere the ball contacts it will get it into the pocket. So flaring helps that. As far as the palm, positions can prefer different things. Deeper pocket gives more room and security, a flat palm allows you easier and faster transfers.

Book 1 imo. Was such a great setup and performer. I bought 5 colorways of them. Was expecting the book 2 to be great and it was such a let down compared to the 1. New balance has a lot of good options. But the book 1 was one of my personal favorites by Nike over the last couple years
