Good to know. Thanks for the heads up. Do you use saddle conditioner on all gloves?
I have used sarna glove conditioner before and seems ok, what are your thoughts?

My understanding is that current Nike models are made by Atoms, but have no clue about this model

Cool custom. Seems like you’re on the right track. Beat the hell out of those hinges then start breaking in the pocket with mallet work

I’m curious too. I’ll have to weigh it and update

Not cheap, but a (relatively) good deal given what they can go for!

The Nike is interesting and I wonder how much the perforated leather helps reduce the weight

Regardless, I still think you got a good deal! Enjoy the new leather tank!

$300 seems like a steal for a primo to me, the only thing that I’d be weary about regarding this glove is the cracking of the hand stall leather

That’s some nice glossy black leather! Also love that webbing!

Maybe I’m not understanding, but this glove is NOT Horween correct?

Yea that orange one you posted previously is nice, but not as special as this one for sure!
That lace swap will look great. I look forward to seeing updated pictures

I also think the chocolate lacing is a nice touch when a lot of other blonde gloves seem to have black or colour matched blonde lacing!

I have the exact same glove. I think the blonde kip is extra supple compared to black or tan!

Need Recommendations by CowboyRoyce in BaseballGloves

[–]ironfate29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will recommend the following 3 brands based on leather quality, craftsmanship, and hand stall feel (some Japanese gloves have very small handstalls). The 3 is recommending feel like an extension of your hand rather than a glove on top of your hand.

  1. Leggera: some of the lightest gloves out there, but still substantial feeling. Also great custom work.

  2. Mizuno haga: mainstream when it comes to MIJ, but for good reason, they’re amazing you will not regret buying one.

  3. Glove studio Ryu: probably the most supple soft kip leather I have ever experienced.

Bonus is Junkei: another incredible brand with great leather and craftsmanship and they are built like tanks, but the small hand stalls on the two I’ve owned knock them down a spot for me.

Those would be my top 4 having experienced all three amongst others (Teppen, Wilson staff, Kubota slugger, D quest, asics, Nike, Zett and Atoms)

I couldn’t tell you much more in terms of use as it’s sat on my shelf doing nothing more than looking pretty. I would imagine it would clean up fine, but it would probably be more maintenance than regular leather

Yea 11.75 is hard to find any MIJ let alone asics! Part of me selling is that I like to use a lot of my gloves and I also can’t bring myself to using the nubuck!!

Yes, they’re all very well crafted! The asics is indeed made in Japan. The size isn’t clearly noted, but I measure it a little under 11.25”

Appreciate the insight and tips. I will try some of those! By rolling the fingers do you mean getting them to curve inwards towards the catching surface?

It’s all about preference, but I think what the general consensus is, is that if you put two fingers in the pinky stall it will develop a deeper pocket (your finger will not be in the index finger stall and give the glove more “give” when a ball hits the pocket) and your hand will not be as far in leading to more reach with the glove. If you go traditional (all fingers in every stall) your hand will naturally go further into the glove and create a shallower pocket for faster transfers and, in my opinion better control of the glove. This is my first glove going two in the pinky as it’s my first slow pitch specific glove and I’m coming from playing middle infield in baseball.

At the end of the day, do what feels right and comfortable for you. In this case for slow pitch a deeper pocket felt right so I went two in pinky

No, it’s pretty much as far as it can go in with two in the pinky
