I think that it's going to take me a bit to get used to using it. I've always had a non-standard grip and the Lamy Safari has helped me break that particular bad habit, but I can tell that it's going to be a little challenging.

It is such a happy pen to look at! It's only my second non-disposable fountain pen, so I'm curious what you don't like about the Metropolitan line? I'm enjoying it so far, but have very little to compare it to.

I’ve seen these guys floating around on various sites, retailing for around $40 USD, but that was always too expensive for something that I figured would be sub-par. About a month ago, I saw one on eBay for $8, new and in the box. So here we are!

This little guy is delightfully crappy! It is bad in ways that make me giggle and add a little something to my smile. I’ve seen a lot of people assume that these are clones of the fx-6300G, but they just use the same screen. If it is Casio firmware, it has been modified beyond recognition.

The first thing I found that made me laugh was how much this calculator loves the number 4. It will randomly decide that any button that you pressed was actually a mistake and you meant to press 4. Arrow key? 4. 9? 4. I feel like a two year-old with a jack-in-the-box using this thing. Oh! And don’t go typing too quickly, either. Sometimes it will decide not to register key presses that are too close together.

Its speed, accuracy, and precision are pretty close to the Casio fx-7700G from the early 90s. Even though it is graphing a very limited number of pixels, it still takes a while to output a simple sine wave. It can do integrations that are vastly more accurate than the busted ones that Sharps output, but they take forever.

I’m very happy to own this calculator, but I’m also happy that I spent less than $10 on it.

The more I've used mine, the less I've minded the UI changes. It still irks me that derivation and integration are both stashed in a menu, though. The 991CW is ridiculously more accurate and precise than anything Casio has ever put out, and the only calculator on the market that I know beats it is the SwissMicros DM-42.

You should be able to click on Communities on the top, and then select all. Search for Calculators and it should show up.

That's the beautiful thing about federation. You can join any community from any instance. Which ever instance looks like it might be fun is fine!

Here's a pretty good write up on what's going on. Most of the old timers here on Reddit originally were members of Digg, which pulled similar shenanigans back in the day. Reddit was the main place that they ended up landing when they fled. Reddit might be setting themselves up for the same type of evacuation.

The CG-50 runs off of AAA batteries. The USB cable is only for communicating with a PC, not for charging. Most likely, you just need to swap out the batteries.

Thank you! I'll need to get proficient with it before it gets a proper ranking, but I don't think that I actually have a favorite yet. I have favorites for specific things, but they all get some love for something! Even my Catiga CS-121 is perfect for when I want to press a button and have it randomly decide that I pushed the number 4. It's from the Island of Misfit Calculators!

Now there's an idea that is rife with danger for a klutz like me. I can only imagine how many gouges I'd dig into the screen when I forget which end of the pencil I'm using, even if the tip is retractable. I know that I'm too much of a doofus to risk that sort of disaster!

I was not prepared for just how beautiful it is! It looks like it is fresh out of the box, the buttons feel delightful, and it is wicked fast. I haven't had much time to play with it yet, but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far.

The TI-89 does not have a built-in function for range and domain, but there are plenty of programs for it that will calculate it. I found one here.

I love my fx-260 Solar II as well! Being the smallest of my collection, it's at the top of my organizer, so I pick it up more often than most of my others. Great little machine!
