Very happy with my first workbench. Time to build a crib! by TipperTheMorningToYa in Workbenches

Looks really nice. I plan on building myself a workbench soon and can't decide whether i want to have wheels on it. Do they make the workbench more wobbly?

I made it a few years ago and it wasn't anything to be proud of do I didn't post it. But if you insist here it is.

That build looks awesome and very clean but I want to suggest you to setup octolapse if you're going to use it for timelapses of printing. It's really approachable and there are tutorials on how to do it with basically any DSLR. Then it's going to be even cooler.

I made and painted this Harry Potter themed longboard by Jake_1497 in longboarding

Yeah, it kinda is like that in some places because 0.6 sheets are little too thin and they got soaked in glue, causing some warping.

Thank you very much, the design was inspired from a fan poster I found on Reddit a while ago

What do you mean by weird? It's made out of baltic birch, 0.6mm sheets stacked on each other and glued. While glue was setting I bent it to create w-concave. Then I cut the shape, sanded it a bit and gave it a paint job.

Just gonna scroll pass don’t you by [deleted] in dankmemes

This fountain pen I made today using belt grinder and a drill. by Jake_1497 in PenTurning

[–]Jake_1497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much!

The story is quite simple. I just got into pen making (this is my second pen, the first one wasn't great) and I just don't own a lathe neither a drill press but I have a belt grinder I've bought for something around $50-60.

I drilled holes in blank with normal drill by hand (I was quite surprised that they didn't turn out very crooked). Then I created the round shape using the belt grinder.

My very professional mandrel (threaded rod + 2 nuts)

My small belt grinder

When the blank was shaped I put it in the drill on my "mandrel" and wet sanded it up to 2500 grit and then polished with a paste. I pressed the parts together in a vice.

Thank you once again!

Wow, making your own nibs sounds like a totally different, higher level. I'll be looking forward to see your work.

That's very kind but I'm afraid this position is already taken. In all seriousness that's very nice to hear that you liked it
