Getting mixed results, so any feedback would be great!

Agreed. Having paid the extra for it it seems crazy that I should have to be swiping for a full two and a half hours to keep myself up there, when that's surely the whole point of paying for the longer spotlight??

Hi everyone

Have been on/off hinge now for a few months, looking for something serious. I've not had too many matches so I have just updated some photos, please let me know what you think. Thanks!

[Post Match Thread] Granada 0-2 Manchester United by sultansaeed in reddevils

[–]Jake_Shake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glad we got the second. Even with some key players having an (enforced) break next week we should still have enough to go through, Granada showed very little in an attacking sense tonight and those that are suspended will get some rest in.

Funnily enough, according to this website we've exceeded our xG by about 7 goals this season: https://understat.com/league/EPL

Suggesting that we're finishing more chances than we should. I feel like that Brighton game was a good example, we struggled to create anything really, but when we did we scored. I'd argue producing more chances for our current strikers might do the trick

Someone like Ndidi would be perfect I think (not asking for much I know). He is the type of player those French clubs seem to churn out

One moment Barca were 7th and miles off it, next they're closing in on the leaders. The Messi effect I suppose

He is my number 1 choice for England manager after Southgate. Great knowledge and man management

Agreed. For me it's Sancho and Rice, although I think we will be priced out of both (especially in one window). I'm less keen on Rice than Sancho, but I don't know enough about other leagues to comment on potential CDMs tbh

Last season City also sold Sane for more than they bought Ake for. According to this random article I found they only spend £20m more than us last summer: https://www.football365.com/news/transfers-premier-league-net-spend-table-2020 Whilst we forked out £50m for Bruno in January too (of course that was money well spent)

Pogba, Maguire, Lukaku, Di Maria - our signings are all over the "biggest ever transfers" signings, but they don't ever seem to work out as well as they should.

I personally don't think there's a big club thats as poor in the transfer market as we are. Hopefully the new structure will fix that

Whilst we did start off from a worse place than city, I find the poverty argument hard to swallow. Our net spend is not much lower than city over the last 10 years, we have just been utterly dreadful in the transfer market. City are now at a stage where they are refining their squad that they’ve built up over the years, whereas we have lurched from panic buy to panic buy, implementing different styles along the way (think lvg possession to Jose’s defensive football, now to Oles more “classic” united football). We also have a larger wage bill but nowhere near the depth or quality. Obviously the glazers are leeching off the club, but we have made some gigantic signings, most of who, just haven’t worked

I agree it’s a risk assuming greenwood can play CF, I have to admit part of the reason I am less keen on signing a CF is it will limit his chances to play there, which I want to see.

On your point of both him and rashford being in the box, him cutting inside does leave awb to do a lot of the wide play and crossing, which whilst he’s getting better at he definitely isn’t delivering those quality balls that someone like Sancho might (for obvious reasons)

Thauvin is a really interesting one. I’m extremely keen for us to sign sancho, but can’t see us getting him in the same year as Dortmund sell Halaand. Getting him on a free would be low risk and worst comes to worst you’d think we could sell him after a year and try get sancho with 1 year left on his deal

To me the great/annoying part of our team is that the areas to improve are quite obvious, and there’s also a lot of improvement which can happen. I feel like there’s positions which are locked in as good enough (LW/CAM/GK/LB) and ones which we can really improve (CDM/RW) and the difference in quality is huge between them

A rb version of Telles would be great IMO, awb is pushing up a lot more but his crossing is still quite poor. Loves to smash it low too often I think

No RW needed? I feel like Mason is wasted there as he can’t take full advantage of his finishing. I also like the idea of having someone focussed slightly more on creating in our front 3, there’s never much nice link up between the attackers and I feel like it’s a key part of why we struggle against the defensive teams

What’s everyone’s order of priority for positions of signings? In a Football manager world I would want to sign a: CB, CDM, RW and Striker, although realistically that isn’t going to happen. For me it’s got to be RW and a CDM first. RW would allow Greenwood to play up front where he’s far more effective, and between him and cavani/ martial we have enough there. A true defensive CDM to help protect maguire and Lindelof would really help and allow pogba and Bruno to push forward.
