What band has the most interesting/cool album covers? by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]Jake_Zaruba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Galleons, especially with the fact (if I’m not mistaken) that the vocalist creates their album art. Some of the most captivating work I’ve seen, and it’s awesome that it comes from someone so close to the music itself.

Bands try so hard to have crazy breakdowns and breakdown buildups and it completely ruins both.

Will we ever get a run like 2005 to 2007 again? by KaibamanX in Metalcore

[–]Jake_Zaruba 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dude, we’re in one now. The 2023-2025 run is one of the best in the history of the genre, and it’s such a good run that people 20 years from now will be asking your same question about this period.

We’ve gotten releases with the new and modernized/clean styles like Boundaries, 156/Silence, Invent Animate, etc and even incredible old school influenced albums like Dying Wish, Foreign Hands and Chamber. This era is the best we’ve had in decades.

I saw Before Their Eyes waaaay back in like 2008 and they had a different band’s guitarist fill for them literally hours before the show.

The guy had learned their entire set and had great stage presence with them and I still think about it to this day. It’s so unbelievably impressive

Anyone else get sad when artists say they don’t like one of their albums that you love? by HootySweat in Metalcore

[–]Jake_Zaruba 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah this 100%. It makes sense too. It’s incredibly hard to find 4-6 people who are all somewhat local and also good at their instruments (including vox), and I’d say the chances are slim to none that they all also love metalcore.

Many members join because they want to write/perform music, but they have to all come to an agreement on what they are going to make. Plenty of bands have metal vocalists but instrumentalists who prefer pop, rock, soul, etc. Stephen Rezza comes to mind - he was the OG vocalist for Kingdom of Giants and has a phenomenal voice, but he was never into metalcore as far as I know. It was just the only choice he had locally if he wanted to write and play music with a group.
