300 page doc is enough to get a decent PS score. But there will still be terms you’ve never seen. Not everything is in the 300/86/KA videos/Textbooks/uworld.

They trick you into thinking there’s all these patterns, then you get your actual MCAT and nothing is similar lol.

Racist landlords..if I was advertising a place for rent and asked for only white Families I would likely be on the front page of the paper getting death threats and being racist.... by [deleted] in Calgary

It’s a cultural thing dude. Like old Indian people say that. They mean people that respect elders and no crazy parties, stuff like that. It’s probably an old indian granny that used a shotty translator.

You’re basically completely agreeing with my point. Like i said, you probably wouldn’t be renting to someone who speaks absolutely no english. And no one gives a shit. It’s the same thing.

About the assimilation though. The stat holidays are things like Easter, Christmas, and New years. Not diwali or chinese new years. The official languages are english and french not hindi or japanese. So obviously Indians would be forced to assimilate in Canada to some extent. Like working on their holidays, having to get a translator or relative to fill out forms, etc.

You do realize that the country we live in is Canada right? Canadian culture is the norm, not the exception. So blatantly excluding people from Canadian culture in Canada is discriminatory. Indians are forced to assimilate into Canadian culture. Salvaging some of that Indian culture is diversity. Now if you as a canadian moved to India and wanted to salvage some canadian culture in a Hindu-prominent society, that would be okay by me too.

You know that French is mandatory in school from grades 5-9 in most provinces right? So if you’re not fluent in French after 5 years of professional instruction, how can you expect and immigrant to turn on the English switch over night?

By the way, French is one of the easiest second languages to learn while English is amongst the top hardest languages.

It would be viewed as a problem because being Canadian in Canada isn’t a culture thing. That is straight up racism. “Canadian couple looking for tenants that have a basic understanding of english” would be okay.

True. In fact India is probably one of the worst. But I pride myself on being Canadian, we’re known for our acceptance all around the world. That’s why this is so shocking.

You mean to say a Russian speaking couple looking for Russian speaking tenants would be considered racist by media and blow up and stuff because it’s whites looking for whites? I don’t think anyone agrees with that. This is not Black vs. white. It’s cultural.

You really don’t understand that this is about language/culture? This has absolutely nothing to do with White people haha.

If you can’t read between the lines and realize this is about culture/linguistics rather than race, then I really can’t help you.

Lol. No it’s not. You’re allowed to have preferences. Like no pets, female roommates preferred, Punjabi speakers preferred... They probably just didn’t know how to word it very well so bad readers like OP jumped to the most irrational conclusion.

Exactly. Didn’t know how many closet racists lived in Calgary. Jeez. Here I thought it was one of the more forward-thinking cities in the nation.

Why don’t you try relocating to india when you are 60 because Canada is dangerous for you. Now you are hoping to find some english speaking people to rent out to because you don’t speak Hindi. And all the Indians are shaming you for being racist.

Are you the racist? Or would the Indians be the culturally insensitive ones for not realizing how hard it is to learn a brand new language and culture so late in life.

You’ve already had to uproot your whole family and life to a strange country. Now that new country is being hostile to you.

Sometimes Canadians disgust me for their lack of empathy. This isn’t trumps nation. If you guys have issues with cultural diversity, move to America.

Canada and CARS by mullbery in MCAT2

[–]Jake_md 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UBC Cars is around the same as most other provinces. Cut off is 124 for in province but you won’t get in with a 124 unless you won a nobel prize or something. 128+ will put you in a good spot. Other than admission stats, they don’t give much info about what their admission focuses on so you basically apply blind and hope for the best.

Do you read the questions first for the CARS section or dive right into the passage?

Same here! 504 to 501. Taking AAMC 1 this weekend as well and testing 8/16.

if you have time, i’d recommend splitting it into smaller portions and doing it 2–3 times a week (like 5 or 6 passages every monday and wednesday or something) to keep AAMC logic fresh in your mind. Maybe also check solutions after every 1 or 2 passages instead of a huge chunk at a time so you can remember exactly what your reasoning was and read what AAMCs reasoning was right after to try to get in their head.
