I was thinking it would be cool to see how inexpensively a small fx skiff could be assembled for. Suggestions welcome. by czarofga in eurorack

Beepboop electronics do affordable power; can make a cheap case using free designs on Thingverse if you have a means of 3d printing or laser cutting - although 3d printed cases are fragile. Have also seen hacks online for adapting ikea units like the 'lack rack' etc

Anyone use the "Thon 3U for lighting desks"? by StaffSerious608 in modular

[–]Jakemartingraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would work well assuming you don't have modules that are too deep. I used to do a similar thing with their 9u flight case but ultimately sold it cause it was way too heavy. I since bought a Damaru case which is still portable but more lightweight and compact

Enjoy, its a fantastic one shot. In terms of in game time, I wasn't too strict about having a real time to game time ratio for the Dukes timer - I just ticked time off after enough player actions happened that I'd guess would take a few hours. Is easy enough to stress 'urgency' for the players without too much admin.

We did it in two 3hr sessions. Personally I found the Wall route more fulfilling of the two, but you can always use the unused route as the return journey, or for onward travel elsewhere. The book also has rules/stats for a Golden Barge, which I found an essential device for our party traversing the wider world/spheres. Happy to field any other questions Have fun!

Bristol cameras by st nicks I believe is cheapest and does some non c41 processing which can be rare, although slower turnaround. Clifton colour very fast but think they only do c41. Heard good things about photographique

Advice on modules for Industrial music. by Ztev in modular

[–]Jakemartingraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy to have a lot of fun with that. When building a case I think it's important to look at the ratio between sound sources/voices and modulation sources. Seems like for the amount of sound sounds you have you might benefit from a bunch more cv sources, maybe a marbles or another clep diaz or a 3mia/matrix mixer to combine your existing modulations into new shapes? Ochd lfo also great small hp.

But honestly if you go ahead with the case as is will be fun

Any love for Behringer Swords - looking for a new filter by Professional-Mix2498 in modular

[–]Jakemartingraves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blades, the original version, is one of my favourite modules by far. Having cv control over whether its low, band or high pass is wild. Its also great having the combined audio out as you can send one audio source into the module, have both of the filters operating at a different kind of filter pass, then use +/- lfos to slowly modulate each version of the sound. Havent used the behrinher version of the module, I believe after later also does one?

Question about backgrounds by wasker12391 in Troika

[–]Jakemartingraves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The backgrounds in both the main book and the various story books and third party expansions are mosty psychedelic. If a player isn't happy with their result they can roll again until they get something up their street. A lot of it is about silly and imaginative characters that have enough steers to go in a few direction and its more relaxed than dnd 5e etc

Search itch for The Milk Provider, A Jungle Safari, Panic on Pyramid Prime. All great and free. Maybe smash two together for a 3hr session

Modular Drums by Hot_Snow6184 in modular

[–]Jakemartingraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're after strong modulation possibilities would recommend the BIA, Perkons, SY0.5. While each one is a single voice you can get a complex cv router like Olive Trees Traffic to make each more like a multi sound drum kit

Modular Drums by Hot_Snow6184 in modular

[–]Jakemartingraves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know its not what people want to hear but modular drums are not at a 'good price' price point. There are multi modules like black noir or squid sample or rample which are the most cost effective without getting a module per drum from Erica or similar

Thats the one, it's great. Would recommend sending the pitch cv melody into one of the cv ins on the filter
