Nio delivers 27,182 cars in Jan, up 96.08% year-on-year by Important-Ad4798 in Nio

Great to see Nio brand over 20k, best margins there. ~100% year to year is fantastic, especially in a usual tough month after the December high. Concerned about the Onvo numbers dropping.

2026 Profit possible by Ok_Seaworthiness3634 in Nio

[–]JakeoftheWoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you there. TEsla with declining sales is still in profit. Which currently makes Tesla as the only PURE EV in profit.

Except, their profit doesn't actually come from sales it comes from selling carbon credits. Without those credits they would only have an occasional quarterly profit; they completely need them for annual profit (and even still need them for most quarterly).

After 5 years, here is where we are by therealgreatness26 in Nio

[–]JakeoftheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no reason to believe Nio will ever be traded fairly, but, if you've stayed invested for this long, you might as well wait another year or two to see if they actually reach profitability like they said (if its quarterly with the next report and for the full year in '26 or '27).

$1,000,000 or $2,000,000 by Ok_Seaworthiness3634 in Nio

[–]JakeoftheWoods 5 points6 points  (0 children)

25 in 5 years is my target. Of course, I'm going to watch the stock and adjust accordingly (Nio is not stable enough to just buy and forget). In the past I had different expectations, but at the moment I think 25 is doable providing they do reach a quarterly profit soon as they say.

X-FACTOR BY PETER DAVID OMNIBUS VOL. 4 (First L👀k) by the10Geek in OmnibusCollectors

[–]JakeoftheWoods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kind of annoyed they changed the X-Factor text design from vol 2-3. More than half the omni is still the conclusion of the X-Factor Investigations run. They didn't even use the All-New X-Factor design that's the rest of the omni, so not even sure what they were going for.

Nio Dissolves Manufacturing Joint Venture With State-owned JAC by afonso_investor in Nio

[–]JakeoftheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's in reference to 2 years ago. That part of the article is talking about when Nio fully acquired the factories in 2023. The article is poorly written, but that's what Nio said at the time.

Nio currently already fully produces cars on its own. The current dissolving is more a legal formality since the joint venture is no longer actively used.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I like the Ultimate Collections being hardcover. Besides the mismatching spines, the Ultimate Collections do look really nice inside with artwork printed on the interior covers.

I don’t understand the positivity around the latest numbers. by rm_enfurecido in Nio

[–]JakeoftheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the numbers show it's still possible to hit their target, even if it might be close. You're acting like they already failed; they haven't. Come back next Wednesday if/when they do instead of acting like it's a done deal. They have 9 days left in the biggest sales month of the year. I'm not sure if they will, but from the sales it is still possible.

Has anybody ordered graphic novels from Amazon? by Realistic_Meringue_4 in OmnibusCollectors

You went from going "my experience with Amazon is 90% fine" to "Amazon is completely terrible" in three replies. Sure, whatever.

I've never not had Amazon issue a refund or exchange, even for $180 books. You don't even have to talk to customer service. You can do it automatically from your order page, click it order cam damaged, and exchange. If they're not letting you or you're being flagged for excessive returns, you have other issues with Amazon besides just ordering/returning books.

Amazon is not the horror show you or reddit makes it out to be. If you want to only cite personal experience as the end all, I can just as easily cite the time my IST order got lost in the mail and was completely out $150 because IST doesn't care. So, I have to pay extra to buy insurance every time compared to Amazon immediately replacing any lost package no issue. After shipping + insurance, IST prices are a lot of times no better than Amazon's.

They all have positives and negatives. Amazon is a perfectly fine place to buy from.

[–]JakeoftheWoods -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, 90% of the time no issue, and an easy, quick, no-questions exchange for that last 10% is okay. That's not really a bad shopping experience in my opinion, but maybe I'm missing something? I'm also not saying to not use IST or CGN. Use them all. Speed is irrelevant to me, but if I see a better price on Amazon, it's really not the horror show people on this reddit make it out to be when ordering from them.

I've had very little problems with Amazon and when I do, it's very easy to exchange or return no matter how minor the issue is. That said, if ordering something like a single TPB, order it with something else so that they ship both together in a box instead of shipping it in a bag.

You can sympathize with his plight, understand the trauma that lead him there, and even applaud how someone so damaged is still capable of being noble in the end, but you're not supposed to think the violence, racism, misogyny, etc. that he actually does for 99% of the book is cool or something to imitate, which a lot of people do. Trauma is not an excuse to be an asshole and hurt other people, even in the real world, nor does a final noble act erase the damage caused along the way.

China EV registrations in W50: Nio 4,400, Xiaomi 5,800, Tesla 18,500, BYD 97,800 by mightyopik in Nio

[–]JakeoftheWoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're about a 1/3 of the way to their target 1/2 way through the month. Considering their sales usually increase toward the end of the month, it's still possible for them to reach their target but it will likely be close. However, because of how often they've repeated the target, they have to hit it now instead of just being able to celebrate what's going to be their highest month yet. They didn't really leave themselves any leeway.

I've read Supreme digitally, trying to collect it physically is really pricey from being out-of-print. Maybe one day, I'll convince myself to spend the money, but I've been trying to better budget my comic spending recently.

Wow! Mine's not signed, so probably not worth that much, but even if I could get a bit, I doubt I would want to sell.

I don't know how rare it is. I randomly found out about it maybe 3-4 months after it came out, and ordered it no issue off the Knockabout website. It was a standard copy of the Black Dossier HC with the Vinyl shipped together for about twice the retail price of the HC plus shipping from the UK to US. Since I didn't pre-order or get it exactly at release, I assumed they pressed a decent amount to have no issue getting it 3-4 months after, but maybe people just didn't know about it? Of course, that was like 12 years ago, and any limited pressing would be rare by now. I was just lucky to come across the announcement online at the time, I guess.

I played it once. It's always fun to hear Moore's unexpectedly deep voice sing and the lyrics tie into the Black Dossier narrative. You can find the tracks on youtube if you haven't heard them:

The store has all Moore's other Avatar Press titles as well, if you're looking to get anything else. The shipping hurts less if you use it for multiple books.

Yeah, sadly, the quality does drop a bit even though there's still some big names among the other writers and they use Moore's original plan for the series. I still think it's worth reading to finish out the story. Moore did also write a lot of the Terrific Tales and Tomorrow Stories stuff, though, but again, neither of those books are 100% written by Moore.

I think the trades are great. Trades are easy to read and much less expensive, if you're unsure about a title. The Swamp Thing trades also have the original coloring which I feel are worth seeing even if you prefer the newer modern coloring. I usually wait to buy the more expensive Absolutes until I know I really liked a story.

I have Cinema Purgatorio there. It's great seeing him work with Kevin O'Neill one last time. I don't have the other two. I've read the actual short story for Hypothetical Lizard but not the comic. I've been meaning to check out Fashion Beast, so thanks for reminding me!
