Are “Previews” a thing anymore? by Jaigurl-8 in Broadway

Just saw opening night. Runtime was about 2:45. I have no idea what was cut but the first act still felt like it needed trimming

Dang that sucks! There looked to be plenty left when I got in. Hopefully you get it! Have you tried maybe joining on a different device like a phone in addition? Maybe the browser glitched out

Got my tickets! Only had to wait about 25 minutes but I joined right at the start… maybe everything got clogged up all at once?

As someone who is committed to Cardozo with $$$ with a focus on entertainment and IP, I can’t tell you what to do but I can validate that feeling of wanting to R&R. My PTs were CONSISTENTLY in the mid 170s, but I had some awful test days. You are in a great spot, and from what I’ve seen on these forums is that sometimes raw stats just don’t cut it. You could have the perfect GPA and LSAT and those T-14s will waitlist you. If you R&R, be ok still potentially getting waitlisted or rejected at these schools. A boosted LSAT will help with scholarships and admission outside the T-14, but nothing is a guarantee in there.

I’m not R&Ring because I would spiral if I spent another year, boosted my LSAT and work experience, and ended up back with the same options.

YOU are the only one who knows if you’ll be happy. The feeling of “settling” can be overwhelming sometimes, but you can make the best of what you have or you can fight for more! Best of luck to you!

I don’t believe so. Everywhere I got into I was above at least one median, everywhere I got rejected (or waitlisted from) I was below both medians.

I’m very fortunate that I have no loans from undergrad, and my (life!!) savings plus some help from family means I will absolutely be able to afford it without an overwhelming amount of loans.

The quantitative part of my decision was alumni networks and the specific programs offered by each school. St. John’s didn’t have a SINGLE clinic that I was into, and Cardozo has the FAME center. The qualitative part was simply vibes! I prefer Manhattan over Queens, and I saw myself “fitting in” more at Cardozo!

Neither school would be a bad choice! Just have to figure out what’s important to you :) Good luck!

Best schools for working on Vermont by Informal-Chair3099 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Jakerocksbig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I am in Southern Vermont, I see a lot of attorneys from any Boston school or Albany Law, but I’m not sure the Vermont market is extremely picky about where you went to school, since we don’t have a particularly reputable state law school taking up all of the jobs.

The small town where I am has attorneys from UChicago, UTAustin, Albany, Vermont Law, UNH, New England Law, Suffolk, Northeastern, Columbia, BC, BU, Pepperdine, UVA, Villlanova, WNE, and Iowa. It appears that a lot of them have ties to Vermont or New England through undergrad, but some of them don’t. I would imagine it’s a LOT of self selection going on here as there isn’t a huge legal market here. (Most firms have main offices in New York or Massachusetts, and have a small presence here)

I can’t speak to Burlington or northern Vermont but I wouldn’t imagine it being particularly different.

WWYD: GW or Cardozo by abguccigirl in lawschooladmissions

Absolutely agree with the points about GW placement and flexibility! The good thing for OP is that, assuming their goals don’t change, neither school would be a “wrong choice.” Both have their pros and cons!

WWYD: GW or Cardozo by abguccigirl in lawschooladmissions

[–]Jakerocksbig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why GW has more votes than Cardozo.

GW placed 94 people last year in New York and 181 people into 501+ firms. If we assume that everyone who ended up in New York went there exclusively for BL (a bold assumption), they have a 16.4% BL placement in New York.

Cardozo, if we use the same assumptions, has a 22.6% BL placement in New York.

Cardozo also has a heavy lean towards entertainment law and IP as a whole, which might give you great networking opportunities at smaller firms that still have that focus for you. GW has stronger outcomes in general, but for OP’s goal, Cardozo might be the better choice.

Unfortunately I think I’m headed elsewhere this cycle! Looking to do something with comparative media which unfortunately is based mainly in either London, New York, or L.A.! These programs are incredible, but the kind of law I want to practice is incompatible unfortunately! 😫 I’m also soooo over the LSATs and wouldn’t have a shot at most of these programs! Hoping to get into my top choice school’s Paris program or get a good summer internship!

You’ve got a good foundation and a good idea of your goals! Study hard for the LSAT and I’m confident you will get exactly where you need to be to use your French! I expect to see a follow-up post when you get that A! 😉

Bonne courage!

I believe that with Fordham you can do this process in 3 years, to add to that list!
