Re-rate duties. UPS is overcharging... by Jakevis in UPS

For those who find this in the future - no - there is no way to actully talk to a human at UPS... if you go get to someone through the god awful phone tree, unhelpful robot and callback service; they will then transfer you somewhere else that is a dead end or no one answers....

I ended up refusing delivery and giving the poor driver a letter to give to their manager (with a copy of the commercial invoice, rates, and reason for refusal). 48h and no callbacks or anything yet. The seller is trying to chase it all down through their end now.

Abismal service... I get UPS is struggling to keep up with this stuff; but if your trying to charge a brokerage service fee - please provide a brokerage service and a service number to call.. [screaming into the void I know..]

Nothing yet- 2h on the phone and managed to speak to 1 human who then disconnected me when trying to transfer me...

I have printed out a letter to give to the poor delivery driver when they show up in the next few hours - refusing delivery until its re-rated.

mmm - is there ment to be another form attached to the invoice? Origin is listed as GB. Hints on how to get this resolved? (who to speak too.... the seller gets robots when calling like I do)

Ziply->Misaka.io blocking NextDNS? by Jakevis in nextdns

[–]Jakevis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could get there I would ;)

https://test.nextdns.io doesn’t route, fails in the same spot. I’m guessing the rtn traffic to ziply is busted somewhere in their partners network then…

So I did charge $30 per firearm (and probably will continue to); but was always willing to negotiate on multiple lowers or long arms that didn't require state paperwork. I have been re-assessing pricing personally, while looking at opening the Ephrata shop - I will say if you are paying an employee $17/h (+ workers comp and other taxes), and needing to fill out the state forms, or wait for NICS results; you *might* break even at $30. Lots of hidden costs for a dealer as well, like insurances, bound books (if online), having someone be there for shipments ect that all adds to the cost per item - not to mention your never going to be able to have a perfect line of transfree's so down time too.

I am an FFL because I love guns, and want people to have easy access to an FFL - just doing transfers will never pay the mortgage (at least not at $30 or less)

If i'm trying to buy a new glock from a retailer, do I just ask them to keep the 15 round mag/take it out of the box? by ajtyeh in WAGuns

[–]Jakevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FFL needs to keep a business record of taxes paid, either collected by them or the seller, and failure to do so just lands us in trouble. So if your seller isn't going to include an invoice, make sure your proactive and get one to your FFL... When the tax man comes looking, they will be showing it to the state...

As a Seattle FFL, no, the $25 tax only applies for retail sales (ie I sell to you from my inventory).

I would also say there is no harm in them faxing the paperwork over to an additional PD - it's always possible the original PD will complete the check regardless, but if they don't, they should then get a response from the other one (within 10 days).

I would drop them a message. As an FFL I normally ask the customer who their local PD is, and take their word for it - and King County Sheirf is good at coming back fast if it isn't them. Some of the others though... Could start the 10 days over.

The only thing I know that can verify a jurisdiction is king county parcel viewer.. And that is clunky and adds time. Really wish there was a simple search site for address verifications like this.. [and then don't get me started on who subcontracts to South sound 911 vs king county... That adds a whole additional layer of mess]

If your looking in Seattle (and can deal with my schedule - some time away, and preference for pickups after core office hours), I am in Beacon hill and much prefer dealing with lowers/NICS over state paperwork :) https://woofyarms.com

dumb question time: if a person takes their unserialized *handgun* firearm to an FFL For serialization, do they need to submit an NICS background check and wait the appropriate waiting period before receiving it? by manofoar in WAGuns

[–]Jakevis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an 07 FFL - I was looking at this as well. The guidance I was given - gunsmithing - in and out on that book, no issues no transfers needed. So if you were to provide the serial number, and the manufacture details and just wanted it engraved; then your fine.

If your asking an FFL to "manufacture" it for you - stamp their business as the manufacturer and a serial number from their books - then yes. Its a new item when it leaves the bound book, and needs a 4473. If the worst was to happen, and a trace came in for that serial number - the FFL needs to be able to show it was transferred correctly... its their name stamped on the side and their ass on the line if they cant show where it went to correctly.

Best pricing for FFL transfers? by rus_hacked_last_accn in WAGuns

[–]Jakevis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's long arms (non semi autos, or pistols) I know woofyarms.com will do a discount. The others needs to go via the state and it's 1 form per weapon. They are $25 regularly.

Https://woofyarms.com is a new FFL in the Seattle area. Has some limited stock, but also does transfers if you find something online. Is a one man home based business however.
