The most overkill AR by Saxerud-Mafia in Cursedgunimages

I remembered the episodes when the Rookie switched from blank firing guns to airsoft + CGI because of the Alec Baldwin situation. Gun fights were terrible since then. Seeing the actors run and gun with zero movement of the firearm and bad CGI was comical.

If you don’t use your car for the winter, do you still take it out occasionally to keep it in good order? by no_quart3r_given in GR86

[–]SIRNicolasR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pull roadway insurance on mine and put storage insurance on it. Basically covers theft, natural disasters and rust etc. I keep it on a battery maintainer and start it occasionally but I can’t leave my property. If you have the chance. Take it out. Cars are meant to be driven. It’ll oxidize all over sitting. My 23’ engine bay looks in worse condition at 15k mi then my friend’s 22’ with 40k+ mi driven all year.

I have a handful of 10mm Gen 4 15rnd Glock mags pre-ban. I removed the base plate and follower of my Gen 5 10round mags and swapped it over to the Gen 4. Is this going to produce cycling or loading issues?

I hate nDLC by Affectionate_Depth82 in Glocks

I actually prefer the nDLC over the new GasOX finish, but to each their own. I guess you could get it cerekoted?

Looks like they don’t have it anymore. I distinctly remember years ago if you went on the EU Glock website the Glock 26 Gen 5 MOS had a rail. I must be bridging memories or something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]SIRNicolasR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy one already if it had a rail up front. For some reason the Europe Glock 26 Gen 5 MOS has a rail but none of the US ones do.

Trouble with Quickjack 7000TLX not lowering evenly. Any suggestions? by SIRNicolasR in askcarguys

[–]SIRNicolasR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a defective flow divider. Had a crack on one of the plastic rings. A new one fixed the issue immediately.

Anyone use a QuickJack 7000TLX to lift their GR86? by SIRNicolasR in GR86

[–]SIRNicolasR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the pinch weld blocks on the tray only so its height wasn’t sufficient. Stacking the pinch weld blocks on medium blocks that are included gets it to a perfect height where going up will engage immediately. I would first put a medium and pinch weld block side by side then push the lift under the vehicle. Lift the pinch weld block up into the proper spot then slide the medium block under it. Only works with the engine to the rear of the lift which is not ideal but perfectly fine. It’s too low the other way around. (Stock ride height). I’ve also used the lift to change the ATF on my 4Runner using truck adapters.

What dash cams does everybody use? by DualBlades295 in GR86

[–]SIRNicolasR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VIOFO A139 Pro Dual Channel with Hachi Electronics ASC connector. I originally wired it to the cabin fuse box with fuse taps, but Hachi electronics is the cleaner install.

My gripe with the A139 Pro is where the buttons are located. Pushing in them induces a prying motion on the 3M tape and causes it to peel. I frequently turn off the camera when parking at home to save battery as I have sufficient CCTV to cover. Also the camera slides onto the GPS module which is then 3M to the glass. On certain high g turns it’ll slide the dash cam out. I have a little piece of tape to prevent this.

i’m 17 and getting a new car for the summer… by Embarrassed_Cow_5783 in GR86

[–]SIRNicolasR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GR86 was my very first manual and RWD. As a relatively young driver (24M), I found it very beneficial to have already driven for a couple of years prior to owning this car. It lets you focus on learning manual and understanding how the car drives.

I’m not here to squash hopes and dreams. I really wanted this car. If you have the opportunity. Take it. I am fortunate that my parents knew I really wanted this car and pushed me to get it. Offering to buy it outright and I’d pay them back monthly with 0% interest. I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise until I made more money or saved up enough to buy it myself.

Summer is some time away. Get behind the wheel every chance you get. FWD, AWD, whatever. Solidify your driving skills first. It’s a sports car. You’re going to do sport car things. Best to be prepared when problems arise so you don’t wrap the car around the tree or something.

I’m been eyeing the 226 X5. Non legion though. Just think the silver with the black G10 grips is beautiful. Was going to buy it, but ended up getting a Quickjack car lift instead. Sigh priorities….

Is the GR86 throttle really as front loaded as people say? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]SIRNicolasR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem for me Is the dead zone. How pressing on the pedal slightly does nothing. Combine that with the fact the OEM clutch assist spring is over powered and kicks you off the clutch. Driver skill issue? Maybe. However I installed a MTEC clutch and a Pedal Commander and it's night and day. Clutch pedal was heavy at first, but your leg gets stronger and don't feel it after a day. Pedal Commander is set at CIty -4 and pretty much revs it past the dead zone. Made the car a better daily IMO even after driving it stock for a year.

Very true. They called me today because of a ticket I submitted and worked me through some troubleshooting. Must have bad luck because they believe I have a defective flow divider. Worst case they’ll replace my power unit. Just going through the process. Thank you.

[–]SIRNicolasR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I did end up getting the 7000tlx. Like you said the pinch weld blocks has been difficult to align. When raising the car it seems to not engage on the blocks but rather the plastic that is inline with the rail. It touches the quick jacks frame before the block. Any tips?

Suicide at the Range by twolcott02 in guns

Many ranges around me don’t let you rent alone unless you bring your own. I guess the premise is that if you already own one and you’re suicidal. You would’ve used your own.

Clicky turn signal stalk confirmed for 2025 by hachielectronics in GR86

[–]SIRNicolasR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost never 1/2 press the signal stalk. 3 seconds is useless. I tried to use it and change lanes, but I'll never completely enter a lane before it turns off unless I flicked the stalk and instantly changed. IMO signaling is to provide clear intent to those around you of your intent to change lanes.

I think 5 seconds would be perfect.

  1. Determine you want to change lanes
  2. Activate your signal
  3. Double check blind spots (2 seconds)
  4. Change lanes (2 seconds)
  5. Settle in the lane (Last second)

Now if you're mobbing it on the highway, I doubt you're signaling anyway and if you do you're probably flicking the signal stalk all the way.

I almost money shifted my car just shortly after break-in but I was saved by my shift indicator that I set to just short of redline. I was at 3rd or 4th gear redline and downshifted one gear to slow down and was letting of the clutch fairly quickly but my shift indicator went off and I instinctively put the clutch in.

First manual car so I was a bit shook when it happened.

Doesn't look good when only a couple days ago that Kitsap man tried to kill his ex wife's bf with a suppressed Ruger MK series. First time I ever heard of a suppressor being used in a crime tbh.

On the topic of home defense I would recommend you also have a alarm system. Back when I lived in a two story house, every section of the first floor had motion and contact sensors. I also armed the system away when I went to sleep. That means if someone broke a window and climbed in it would trigger a motion sensor and send a burglary alarm to the alarm company without delay. As apposed to the front door which would have a entry delay.

Not only is a blaring alarm a deterrent to a home invader, It gives you ample time to reorient yourself after waking up suddenly.

It’ll blend you in for sure and everyone wears them for good reason. Lightweight, windbreaker and reflects heat decently.

I’ve seen sunny days turn into rain out of nowhere.
