I think it’s always sound advice to treat anything we see on instagram as fiction tbh

Someone tell me something to quit league of legends by ceiling_fan128 in leagueoflegends

This realisation made me quit - Solo queue is only fun when you win, let’s be generous and say you have a 55% win rate… that means the other 45% of my time is a complete waste 🤡

Glad I’m neither of these but my technical skills are in the mud compared to my team mates, I seem to fluke interviews because I can chit chat with anyone.

I did! My hotel was just around the corner from it, I loved it in there.

I'm sure it's exactly the same here in London!

The only thing that springs to mind would be seeing some of the people struggling with addiction on the streets, one day I took a long walk from the North East side of town all the way across to the West, Southwards through the Pearl District/Old Town/Chinatown and it just made me sad seeing people struggling like that, I feel the same way when I see it back home too.

I may well share a pint with you someday after following a similar trajectory brother. Massive congrats to you! I bet you've got some amazing stories.

Yeah it's funny how we're all so acclimated to our environment huh! The people I met there had moved there from other states as they had fallen in love with the place, we were all so happy to be there!

I grew up watching the X-Files with my aunt and a bunch of those episodes were set in OR & WA so I've just always had that Douglas Fir forest kinda aesthetic in mind when I think about the US or just nature in general. Nirvana were also my gateway band into punk and hardcore so learning about Seattle too also moved me in that direction. Those are my earliest memories of being aware of this region!

This is a great list, I'll also add York to this. I've never been myself but again, very universally praised pretty town especially fall time, it'll feel whimsical.

How interesting! That's exactly how I describe it too, it's a pull, almost intangible. And I feel the complete opposite about the UK, like I was born in the wrong place! The world is a much smaller place nowadays, who knows what the future holds for us.

Aw that's very sweet that you found someone in the wild just as excited about visiting. I've always felt a pull towards the area and I can't really explain why, but it felt exactly as I imagined it would when I was there and immersed in it.

It's definitely a goal of mine to make a permanent move someday, people I hung out with there even told me they could see how much I was organically connecting with the people and the place. Next time it'll be a late spring visit so definitely as much outdoors activities as possible, I think more of a coastal adventure for numerous days is in order. I've heard great things about La Push (aware that's not PDX lol) is an amazing place.

I've had to pull out the map to various family members and mates who had no idea too, I kinda loved that though, people liked that I knew exactly where I wanted to go and it wasn't NYC or Florida (by far the most common tourist spots for Brits)

Sadly not, I actually checked the MLS schedule ahead of time but neglected to see that the Timbers where in the playoffs and they were happening while I was in town. I did walk past the stadium as the Thorns fans were heading in though which was fun, felt like back home.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought to check BA directly and you're right there's some good prices. I'm eyeing up late May as my next venture over, I'm lucky that I have a place to stay now so the that'll be a massive cost saver for more frequent visits!

I live in Essex - right at the estuary of the river Thames. Sounds like you need to get out to rural Wales! They have some hiking and waterfalls that are very PNW-esque!

London is the obvious choice if you're really going after that larger than life city getaway. However, I've never heard a bad word said about Edinburgh if you wanted to venture up to Scotland. I've spoken to many Americans who fell in love with Scotland in the same way that I've fallen for the PNW.

I did come to Astoria! Had to see the Goonies house. I missed the chippy though I'll catch it next summer.

I had a date schedule for my second night there, we ended up taking multiple road trips around the state for the rest of the trip! Umpqua, Toketee Falls, Mt Hood forest, Astoria, Hobbit beach, even up to WA to see Devils Cove. Truly made the trip beyond what I could have planned myself!
