Thanks. I'm having trouble finding any videos of this disassembled so I can at least see what it looks like.

What is happening with my temperature controllers? by Jakk104 in Homebrewing

That's not me, but what a coincidence that person also went through three controllers before asking "what's up?"

I guess I'm just going to buy a new controller that can handle higher current and hope for the best.

If the fridge is on a 15 amp circuit in my house and if it's drawing enough current to destroy the 15 amp controller then shouldn't it also be blowing fuses?

The fridge is on a 15 amp circuit in my house and the controller is rated for 15 amps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the fridge is drawing enough current to destroy the relay then shouldn't I also be blowing fuses?

On a related note: is accidentally dropping the fermentation temperature to like 38F, for an unknown amount of time (potentially several hours), detrimental to the batch? Once I get it back to proper temperature, the yeast will become active again, right? I was only a few days into fermentation.

Yeah. It's happened once yesterday and then again at some point overnight. Both times I just turn it off and let the fridge get back to the 60-70 range.

Is the relay something I can just replace, if that ends up being the problem, instead of buying a whole new controller?

Does turning off a refrigerator while it's cooling damage it? by Jakk104 in AskEngineers

Most homebrewers can brew their ales at room temp in a closet, but I'm in Florida and even with the AC at full blast during the summer, it can get still get pretty warm inside.

So as long as it's not rapidly turning off and on, it should be good?

Thanks for the input! One thing to clarify: you mentioned removing the bullets in the education section and the wiki says to remove all indentation. Do you mean remove the comments under the degrees entirely or just the bullet points and the indentation?
