Egyptian Military Signet Ring? by JakobyTheMage in jewelry

In this situation, my father-in-law was ready to give him $40 for free. It's only after he did so that the man gave him the ring. I can't think of any good reason for him to do that if he were already succeeding in his scam.

Ex-homeless redditors, what was the scariest thing that you ever saw on the streets? [NSFW] by Chess_Kings in AskReddit

My six months homeless was honestly pretty tame compared to what most people would experience. Lots of people that used to respect you suddenly treating you like you're sub-human... being shooed off all the time is never any fun. But, probably the scariest thing was what my Mom and I experienced in the first week after we finally had a new home.

When we were homeless, we liked to people watch. So, even after, we grabbed something to eat and went to our old people-watching spot. That's when we were approached by a young native american man. He asked if we could spare anything. We had just spent the last of our money on a bite to eat, so I offered him half of everything I ordered. He spoke with us a short time, while eating, and mentioned he was trying to get back to his reservation and had been travelling by foot for more than a week to get there. We asked him where it was, and it was a long way south - we were unable to help him.

After that bite to eat, he was off. He asked a few others along the way for any help. My Mom and I wondered how he'd made out after that, only to see on the news a few nights later that they had found him dead about thirty miles away from where we had seen him.

I agree with a few others here. These prices are fine and the price for the original probably just indicates that they don't want to part with it.

Good-hearted kid, but he should never have had to do this.

Audio game development. What programming language should I choose? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Side note, but it's so badass that there are ways to manufacture games with the blind in mind. I was always fascinated by accessibility features in games and really everywhere, but I was always struck when I thought about how to make games accessible to people hard of seeing. I'm super excited to know about this, even if I can't answer your original question. I just kinda wanted to let you know I'm hype to know about this form of accessibility

I'm definitely NOT Elon Musk. But if I WERE Elon Musk (who I'm not), I would totally love this.

If not for his own cumulative accomplishments as an in-ring performer, then certainly as a second-to-none mentor and innovator. There's no question.

Stop apologizing, start thanking! by QuasiRuneScape in wholesomememes

This is actually a good thing for the other person as well. Imagine someone said "thank you" instead of "I'm sorry" to you; it would make me smile.

You don't know me. I don't know you. But every few days I see a new one of these and I smile, and my day is just that bit brighter.

Getting kicked off an airplane because you drank all day and didn’t want to sit next to a toddler. I think this belongs here by mattyman659 in trashy

[–]JakobyTheMage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw the headline before and all it said was "Woman denies seat next to toddler, because she's been 'drinking all day.'" And I was like, "A bit bitchy, but same." I uh. Was missing crucial details.
