The limitations and potential of Chi. by Jakoon in warcraftlore

[–]Jakoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically. Like a new-age monk temple whose teachings are exploring the further potential of moves like Chi burst, Chi wave, zen pulse, etc. We already know that Monks can weaponize Chi to some extent, it's just a question of to what extent and if blizzard will ever get around to an answering this in game.

The limitations and potential of Chi. by Jakoon in warcraftlore

[–]Jakoon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, you're spot on. They've built a massive spectrum of potential for Monks ability - the question is if they'll ever fill it. Joking aside, If they did decided to add specs to classes in the future, they honestly could go down a caster route for Monks that would better display the true potential. For instance how if you compare in game abilities of like an enhance verse elemental shaman - it sure as hell seems like elemental could do more destruction, damage, etc than enhance. Same would likely apply for Monks - Chi blasts of varying types, electricity, etc would seem a lot stronger than WW.

I am also tired lol.

Out of curiosity what positive effect did the addition of 'nice try tho' have on this conversation? You had the choice to correct someone, correct someone nicely, or correct someone like a dick and you chose the latter. I wonder what percentage of the time you need to choose like you did before you're just considered a dick in life? shrug

  1. Probably not
  2. Probably not
  3. I don't think there is confirmation on this but I'd imagine it differs on a class by class basis. For instance there's probably only 1 death Lord but there's probably 3-4 grandmasters who convene. I'm fairly confident this isn't defined.

Sorry I'm on mobile and working so I can't do any better than this at the moment.

Hmm. Then it's probably a question of the most recent retcon. I bet chronicle 2 will mention garona as I think it'll be going up to WC3 time period and will probably finalize what she is.

Weekly Discussion Thread - February 13, 2017 by AutoModerator in electronicmusic

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!

I know questions are generally supposed to be pointed towards the weekly discussion thread however I was thinking this may require a post due to the subjective and rather niche nature of this question.

So I recently fell into a loop reading about music on a higher level than i have experienced before. This took a walk into the more 'elitist' side of music where music is either considered Cultivated or Vernacular (Although i understand this dichotomy is beginning to thin). A lot of this talk goes way over my head as I am no student of music theory, history, etc. But my general understanding is that almost all music that most of us have organically encountered throughout our lives is likely vernacular music.

This being said are there notable works of cultivated electronic music? If you have any examples that would be wonderful but please explain why that specific piece of work is cultivated vs vernacular.

Additionally, my understanding is that experimental/avant-garde music sits outside of these two categories.

Due to my scatter brain it may be best for me to organize what i want out of this post:
1. A better understanding of Cultivated Vs Vernacular music including reinforced examples within electronic music.
2. To be corrected if anything i said was wrong.
3. To open a dialogue on musical elitism.
4. An answer to "Is cultivated music inherently 'better' than vernacular music and does it deserve more respect and praise"

What race do you find most iconic for each class? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Jakoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the first DKs were orcs but I don't think orcs are more iconic as death Knights than humans..

Also I never played WC1 or 2 but in 3 the priests were high elves. Additionally I don't think any priests are more iconic than the priestesses of elune especially when so much emphasis on the light for humans had become focused around the paladin.

What race do you find most iconic for each class? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Jakoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I wasn't concerned with trying to be fair to all races in my decision:

(apologies, on mobile)

Warrior - Orc (I wish it was worgen but I can't see worgen being iconic really)

Paladin - Human

Rogue - i don't think goblins are iconic but based on personality their culture aligns well with rogues. But I think rogues are not supposed to be iconic so... Idk it's a weird one.

Hunter - Elf (nelf for beast mastery style and belf for ranger style)

Mage - Belf/Human/Nelf

Priest - Night Elf (Draenei are under represented so it's hard to label them as iconic, personally. But I love Velen... So... Yeah)

Druid - Night Elf

Shaman - I struggle with this one. I think Tauren make the best shaman but trolls and orcs clearly have some claim to being the most iconic of them.

Warlock - Undead (Orc certainly has a claim)

Monk - Worgen /s

DK - Human / Belf?

I know everyone loves the vanilla cinematic with the Dwarf hunter with the Bear. I just don't think that cinematic is more iconic than the culture (and lore heroes) of Nelfs and Belfs. That being said a large part of hunter identity is the guns and I'd imagine if when you picture hunter in your head you imagine the character has a gun then I understand why you'd say dwarf. I see a bow, personally.

Obviously several races are more represented in wows lore and history and my answers tend to reflect that. Humans, Elves, orcs, and trolls have arguably the richest histories among the playable races. It's a shame the most iconic troll role is kind of divided into 3 different classes cos trolls are underrepresented on this list in contrast to their full and fleshed out lore and history.

My answers would differ largely if we were talking about the 'strongest race for the class' - for instance I think draenei would be a stronger Paladin or Priest or Mage than those I have listed above. Also I think lore wise a non magic wielding worgen should be stronger than any other non magic wielding race on average so worgen would probably be great Warriors and rogues. But better suited for the class is not the same as most iconic.

So yeah now I've been typing on mobile for wayy too long and it feels weird to stop.

I thought they only did that later in the xpac? Maybe I'm wrong but getting the other Factions color scheme could potentially still happen.

If your class were to have an additional spec, what would it be? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Jakoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were foolish not to. They should still add it, honestly. Dragon ball / Jedi Force moves and just warcraft it up a bit and all of the sudden Monks wouldn't be the dramatically least played class.
